Mohamed Salah is edging closer to signing a new contract with Liverpool as talks have been progressing well.

The situation is the same for captain Virgil van Dijk, who has also indicated there has been “progress” in discussions over a long-awaited new deal to keep him at Liverpool.

Salah and Van Dijk have made it abundantly clear that remaining at Anfield is their priority and it is understood there has finally been a breakthrough after a lengthy negotiation process.

Despite both players’ contracts running out this summer, Liverpool have always been confident that the pair would commit to the club.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are believed to be progressing in talks over signing Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose deal at Anfield also expires at the end of June – and his preference is to join the LaLiga club.

Madrid are confident of tying up a deal for Alexander-Arnold and they are obliged to communicate with Liverpool when an agreement is reached.

  1. Is this why Salah has gone missing in the past 7 games? 2 goals (both penalties) and zero assists. And his overall game has been awful. He has scored 1 goal in 10 Cup Finals for LFC. I would not give him a new contract if it were up to me.

  2. Just great! As a liverpool supporter I have echoed all season that we should move on from Salah! Too many people are being fooled by stats and not his all round non exisent work ethic! The guy doesn't even tackle and since nuno mendes ate him up for lunch, every other left back has done the same! We should thank him for his service but move on…! Regarding VvD we should be looking for the heir to his throne over the next 2 seasons! I hope the Salah contract is just to guarantee us fee!

  3. Van Djik going on 34 and Salah 33 for next season may take up more player coach roles for new players in their positions as there’s no way they can keep playing at the top of the game consistently for another 70 games a season. Not gunna happen.

  4. Yawn (again)
All players leave eventually and I’m bored with this circus.
If players want to stay then stay, if they want to leave just go please.
Respect the club and its supporters.

  5. I am a Liverpool fan, and I do not think this is good business. HUGE money to keep two players into their thirties and past their best. That money should be invested in younger players who demand less and will become greats in their own right

  6. Im call it now. Trent the rat won't last long in Madrid. He's going to get destroyed playing for them, and the fans over there will not like him. Liverpool better not take hm back.

  7. How many times have we heard this now?. I'll believe it when its done.

I just hope if it is true that fsg dont treat this like 2 new signings. These are just deals that should have been wrapped up 9 months ago. We still need another LB a new no9 and support at RB if trent does go aswell as maybe a couple of other signings. As well as giving diaz and konate etc new contracts.
