Erling Haaland on the same level as Mbappe? Come on man. Mbappe can create chances out of nowhere, from the middle of the field. as soon as we play a top side we lose and will continue to do so if a more astute manager can get us there then great but I doubt it. After all even coming second makes you a loser. Southgate has done amazing with a squad that is nowhere near as good as the 2000-2006 golden generation. He's massively overachieved with this team.

I think Gareth has done a fantastic job for England so far personally. I think the defeat to France wasn't really about England having a bad game, France were more clinical on the night. England actually played well and luck just wasn't on their side. I don't think we can blame our manager. He has settled this side down and given us some kind of consistency, occasionally he might not be the best of tacticians but usually gets it right. I want him to keep on progressing with the team and with the job.

Sorry? Southgate shouldn’t have waited so long to make the changes. He took off Saka who was having a fantastic game and brought on Sterling who did nothing. Took Foden off too late as Rashford didn’t get enough time and brought Grealish one of our better players for 2 minutes. Southgate was poor with subs and had he made better chances at different times we could have won the game. Not bringing Tomori or playing Maddison were 2 other mistakes.
France were there for the taking and yes Walker made life for Mpabbe hard but Giroud had a good chance a minute before he scored. We didn’t focus on Giroud and didn’t learn the lesson and so he scored when another dangerous ball was whipped in.

There's no choice Southgate must be sacked. Even though England is still like Belgium, yet to win the tournament, this golden generation had surpassed the previous one with the likes of Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Neville, Owen and Rooney. They achieved at least two top four finishes, which is 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020. The quarterfinal exit for this World Cup is not too bad because England had outclassed France, giving the title holders a more defensive play. I hope England will play better in Germany (Euro 2024), keeping some important players like Kane, Maguire, and so on, with young players like Bellingham and Saka were most likely on their peaks of the career.
