Sunderland recorded back to back wins as they beat Cardiff at the Stadium of Light thanks to goals from Eliezer Mayenda and Chris Mepham. While top two is still probably out of reach for Regis Le Bris’ Black Cats, the result will hopefully help us get momentum ahead of the playoffs. Enjoy the weekend & onto Preston!

  1. Am ugly win , but will take it, hopefully follow it up on Tuesday.I do fancy a win against Coventry, we do better away. HA-WAY THE LADS

  2. 3 points, back to back wins and getting a win for the club reaching 5 thousand league matches is really good 👍 as for the game the only complaints I have is that we didn't score more goals, we seem to struggle to score more than 2 goals at the moment but if ya win u can let it slide a bit and also Patto becoming more of a liability with crosses again, personally if it was up to me I would put Moore in but we all know it's not gonna happen, well done to Mayenda getting 3 goals in 2 games really happy for the lad and finally I'm over the moon for my mate Mepham getting the winner, best CB in the championship and he was in the right place for a tap in like a natural striker 😂, good win, need to keep this momentum going and hopefully get another 3 points on Tuesday 🤞🔴⚪🔴⚪

  3. Patto!! For me it wasn't a foul but his defence didn't do him any favours again. Drops a bollock then, as usual, makes a cracking save to keep it an 1-1. Mayenda MoM for me. I sincerely hope, with Roberts looking dodgy now, that Mayenda and isidor start on Tuesday alongside Mundle who is looking sharper every game.
    HTL.

  4. Once again failing to be more lethal coming close to costing us… naive honesty instead of going down for a penalty.. i love the honesty but you have to be certain you will put it away …hes still got a lot to learn.. honesty in football doesnt exist. Sadly as i say he will learn . 😊

  5. Although I am thankful we won, we will not get promoted playing like this. Rigg is still not up to his best. I thought Hume was excellent.

  6. No foul on patto, just strikers presence was enough to trouble him but ball would've gone out but hjelde coming in it came off hjeldes' head back into play as it were to the foot of the scorer …messy really. Never mind .we won. 🎉🎉

  7. Well it looks like we only need five more wins Mickey lad and that should guarantee us a playoff place.(Maybe 4 if the teams outside the playoffs drop points)
To b fair we need to play better or else the chances to reach Wembley on May 24th will look very slim indeed. 😂

  8. We spend too much time pissing about in our backline .I hate to see players bringing balls out of defence then standing on the ball for ages before continuing on. It just gives opposing midfield and defence too much time to mark up. We are best when our midfield get early ball on the move.Ithink we played Dan Neil too deep today and he and Jobe were cut out of a lot of play which made for longer hopefull passes over their heads which I thought reduced the pressure on Cardiff especially in the second half.

  9. We need to have more bite and it's vital to build momentum for the playoffs, Coventry are the team with the most momentum but it would feel like a travesty to finish 4th well ahead of the chasing pack and not make it to Wembley against Burnley or Sheffield United.

  10. Pleased we got the win. Again, a team we should be beating anyway. Great early goal but I just knew the lads wouldn't hold on til half time and sure enough Cardiff equalised. We finally got the second and tbh were in control most of the second half.

Wish we could get a few 4 nils against teams like Cardiff. We seem to score then sit on a fragile lead. Why can't we get two or three under our belts? If we could then any opposition goal isn't such a game changer.

  11. Another 3 points need to be scoring more goals. But back to back wins. Playoffplace just about sealed dont fancy coventry in the play offs. Good that he is resting players

  12. It's not the ref who makes us suffer everyone who has ever supported Sunderland AFC knows that it's our team who keeps us on the edge for 95 minutes every week.
The only exception is when we had Quinn and Philips.

  13. The sad thing about this and other wins with just 1 goal in it is that we are always desperately hanging on crying for the ref to blow it doesn't bode well fir the playoffs

  14. Patto strikes again! Awful distribution as always. And for that goal – jeezus – there's a reasons he's nicknamed Dracula. Contrast that with Horvath – crosses came in and he gathered a few I remember with ease. Good balls in, but too close to the keeper. No problem for him. Patto, flapping around like the pelican from Finding Nemo.

Yes, he made a good save. But one good save doesn't counteract all the mistakes he makes (big and small). He's cost us a lot of goals recently. His confidence looks shot. Take him out of the firing line and give him a break.

Mayenda and Mundle great. Mayenda really should've gone down just before half time. Penalty was there to be given.

We're just not ruthless, and we make too many mistakes. Anyway, good goals, 3 points is important. Good job lads.
