It’s our first L Pod of the season as the Seattle Sounders were dealt a 2-0 defeat by Western Conference nemesis Real Salt Lake. Can we chalk this up to a logjammed schedule and squad rotation or is this cause for greater concern? We debate that in our game review, then wade into the Nouhou Discourse as part of our Agenda Check after the polarizing defender scored one of the worst own goals of all time.
Later on, we discuss some of the other results from Matchday 2 in MLS, including a troublingly dominant performance from Inter Miami even without the services of Lionel Messi.

I've been a crash out Chris about this for half a decade.
Can this be the year we upgrade at left back?
Nouhou is getting older, and his deffensive play has started to diminish year by year while his offense is a net zero every season. That is not good if his offensive production was slightly better the discourses could be different but currently his best attributes are defense and when thats starting to head into the downturn its gonna get really bad. Would like to see the team move him to get any value while they can before we have another Ruidiaz situation again.
Apologies for the video errors this week, hopefully one day we will figure it out.
Lay off Nouhou, he’s about to pass Brad Evans and Freddy Montero for career apps and become top 6 all time in appearances.
No other sounders legend gets as much crap as him.
How are we not RSL 2.0 which again I will say this you and many others have been more than lenient more than understanding more than accepting of the former RSL acquisitions such as Craig Garth Albert add Freddy Juarez we have given them more than enough time which again that is the respect and power of this amazing fan base that we give chances when most does not deserve but our fan base is loving and accepting and it is a big responsibility of why the standard of our club is the standard of our club it is not fair that these RSL acquisitions still cannot destroy the house that they built and has made so much embarrassment on us on the other side something's gotta give respectfully
I have been going to all of these games since the beginning of the frie era this is embarrassing I was at that game behind the bench of the Sounders nobody gives a s***about this series the brigade is going to have a field day these next couple weeks
My question is, if we had an opportunity yo upgrade the LB position? And the other question is LCB v LB. Nouhou really good LCB and below average LB.
Im hesitant to call it Nouhou "hate" – I just think he is more character and less complete footballer. The year we did a back three and he was the LCB, he was unreal, but his play since then has been subpar. His 1v1 defense is good and his recovery speed used to be top notch, but his skill set is declining. His ability to go forward and make an impact is non existent.
During that back three year, Brad Smith and ARoldan really showed what an attacking threat on the wing backs could produce. Nouhou is not that player.
he is a bit awkward on the ball and I think him and Frei fall into the category that they are not great footballers, but have played some great football. Can not take away from legacy and trophies, but it is definitely time to upgrade these roles
I think using the bouanga argument is fundamentally flawed. Bouanga plays on the left side of LAFC and directly matches up with Alex Roldan and in the final games there was an interchange of Cristian and Alex to try to shut him down, Nouhou had next to nothing to do with that. You would have a better argument using Pec, but the counter to that would be that during the LAG game in the conference finals, Puig was effectively stymied for about 80 minutes (and playing on a torn ACL) which contributed to Pec’s limited influence
Realign the jersey frames on the wall behind you or our defense will keep scoring own goals until you do. If it happens again this week, I will officially stamp it as a curse.
I think Nouhou is a decent player and has a very useful skill set in some contexts! One of the things that frustrates me, though, is that we don’t seem to have enough depth in his position to switch between him and a fullback with a different skill set when it would be preferable to do so. It also frustrates me that he rises to the occasion in big games, but doesn’t seem to lock in to the same degree consistently in “normal” games.
Nouhou:
For the casual fan, fun to watch and entertaining
For the fans of good and clean soccer: a whirlwind but overall good in terms of MLS defenders
Came here expecting to hear some over the top reactionary takes but this is not so bad 😄
Ari especially, well reasoned arguments. Noah, please stop using the word 'bots' (doesn't sound good)
We never win at RSL, so it's not a big deal
I found myself sadly slowly sliding down the couch as this game went on…
O glory, to Ari, my king. Hit the nail on the head with the Nouhou discourse. People rag and rag and rag on my mans for his offense. The anti-nouhou-bot-brigrade-crashouts obviously have lives and dont play FM24. It's called a role, or even perchance, a player profile. He is an old school fullback bordering on straight up LCB and by no means a wingback. Offense is just not his game and that okay! He's here to sit the likes of mo salah and little denny b down for some teriyaki for 90 mins. You want peak well rounded soccer? Go watch the premier league and leave the chaos to us sickos. I think a lot of his haters are the same type of people who get mad at dudes for pimping homers in baseball. When I decide to dedicate 2 hours of my Saturday to watch men in pajamas play a children's game, I want some showmanship. What did Nouhou do after he scored a banger? Made a show of it! Sometimes its good, sometimes its sub-optimal, but its always absolute cinema.
For the past several years we’ve been looking for scapegoats within the best defense in MLS, while we’ve been offensively impotent.
What Nouhou does or doesn’t do doesn’t matter if we put up a goose egg on our side of the scoreboard.
