CQ brought something that I've seen as lacking since 30 years ago – discipline. The positioning and formation of his teams are good. I used to see Iranians running around like headless chickens relying on individual moments of brilliance. After he came in he instilled a culture of team work and a high work ethic that has been missing since I first ever watched Iranian football. It's true we try to counter attack. But we nearly did a great job vs Argentina (2014) and Portugal (2018). We got 4 points in 2018 and missed out on goal difference. If you look with the same critical eyes at Portugal in 2018 group stage, they seem worse than Iran in that time. I watched Egypt in ACN and he set them up similar to how he set Iran up. He overachieved with them, they only lost on pens and Senegal were not exactly in full control during the whole matches they beat Egypt. Ignoring politics CQ's appointment should help re-establish the discipline and work ethic we need as underdogs vs the likes of England. I think we can beat Wales and USA with his managerial style, if the player buy into it like they did before. England maybe we can draw with them. We have climate and culture advantages in Qatar and we will have a manager used to that climate and culture, unlike the other 3 teams and managers. If we get the football back that we had in 2018, we can qualify for the last 16. CQ has also got his own backroom team with Faria, for example, that should further help. Our govt are spending money because they know this is a big chance whilst the likes of England, Wales and USA are distracted by human rights narratives and the adaptation to climate and culture. I don't joke, I don't hope, I really believe we got a great chance and we are putting ourselves in the best possible position to smash our opponents this year. 0-0 with England after disciplined performance, 1-0 win vs Wales with hard work and discipline and a set piece goal, 2-1 win vs USA in a more emotional open game but with hard work and passion haha. Let's go!!!! Oh, and I am half Iranian-half English but obviously support Iran against England and want both to go through! Funny, both nations use lion symbols but got no lions 😛 I dreamed of this draw for 30 years, though!

It will also help his argument. I agree that there is not enough time for any new coach, and changing coach last minute is a bad decision, but the rest of his argument doesn't make much sense. We need to be realistic Iranian players are far less skilled than European players. With the exception of Taremi, almost all the top players in Iran's premier league played terribly in mediocre European teams and barely qualified to be in their team's lineup. Playing an offensive game against the UK will probably cause humiliating results. A well-structured defensive game is the best chance Iran has but as said before there is no time for preparation so I can't be optimistic about the group even if Alex Ferguson was our coach.

Hi I don’t know what was wrong with the Croatian trainer coach, Iran was Winning all the games and we played offense and defense why they brought Carlos back I don’t think that’s a smart move?
