Julian Alvarez was the most expensive transfer last summer. And after some struggles in the beginning of the season. Recently Alvarez is stepping up for Atletico. This comes as no surprise though, his career has been filled with big moments and collecting trophies. Is this the start of a glorious career at Atletico Madrid.

Cholo Simeone, the manager that's said to ruin argentine players, is actually healing Alvarez. Alvarez was a top class striker at River Plate, the fact he scored 6 goals in a single game against Alianza Lima both shows that Alianza was shit compared to that River Plate team and the fact that Alvarez was always were he needed to be and when he needed to be to put it in the back of the net, goals most of the time don't score themselves after all. Then at Man City in his first season he was getting pitty minutes and most of the time out of position, on the second season he got a lot of time out of position, playing that 10 role, then a few games at the wings, then he played a few games in the 8 and he only played in the 9 those few couple matches when Haaland was injured or the few minutes he got as a sub for Haaland (Pep seemed to like to use him in place of players that were underperforming, injured or needed rotation out of the squad). Pep killed the guys confidence in front of goal by taking him away from the goal and yet still he was finding ways to bag goals by crashing the box or long range efforts. Now Simeone is giving him and Griezman free roam around the pitch when on the ball to do whatever they want, he can be in the box, on the wing, at the edge of the box, in midfield, and that's not only increasing his confidence in front of goal but is improving his overall game on and off the ball.
The reason Simeone is giving him and Griezman that freedom he expressed in his press conferences, it's because they are different, they are those players that have a very good understanding of the game, enough quality on the ball to do a job anywhere on the pitch and are the difference makers in front of goal. What I would love to see is him and Sorloth in a 4 3 1 2 with either Griezmann or De Paul on that 10 role (De Paul as a creative number 10 is massively underrated, mostly because he's been seen as that 6/8 for Argentina that just runs around a lot, but his skill on the ball is mad, man was flicking the ball over people and nutmegging people on some of them Champions league games when he didn't have to run around a lot and could take his time on the ball, his passing and vision is elite as well. In fact he was playing the 10 for Racing club before going to Udinese)
Only a few people doubted Alvarez… every squad in the prem league would have bitten your hand off to sign him if they could afford him… he was always as good as Haaland if not better…
Barca needs this signing he would fit right in .
Great watch as always 👊🏿. I think the people who doubted him weren't the football masses but just the few people who saw him fail to break ahead of Håland and used that to analyse his game instead if analysing everything else he was doing whether at River or for Argentina and during those City cameos where he wouldn't necessarily score but would have impact.
So I think regardless which team he went to he was gonna establish himself coz he wanted to feel important and Atléti basically found themselves their heir to Griezmann coz i think when Griezmann eventually leaves Atléti, we will see Álvarez drop into that Griezmann role and be paired with maybe Sørloth.
Happy to see him enjoying his football 🫡🙏🏿
Happy for Alvarez, he wanted to be the main striker and got his wish. Now he's demonstrating his value
Negative ball knowledge if you think Alvarez isnt a +80m player
and his ceiling is still far off, in my honest and slightly biased opinion
And he shame all of those clowns with his performance now
JULIÁN ALVAREZ SPIDERMAN EL MEJOR DELANTERO TODO TERRENO DEL MUNDO TOP CRACK MUNDIAL NÚMERO UNO BALÓN DE ORO YA 🪙🕷️❤️🇦🇷🏆🌍🕷️👏👏🕷️🪙❤️🪙🕷️❤️
Maybe he's not THE #1 best striker, but he's the only elite striker with anything like his workrate
Sadly Pep's obsession with ball control led to forwards passing the ball around and around, and seemed to become afraid of shooting. He fell for that a bit (Other victims: Grealish, Sterling, Foden now). Nevertheless he got 19 goals and 13 assists last season. Of course now his confidence is skyrocketing! I think his spirit is one of his best atributes: the bigger the game, the more motivated he becomes.
Alvarez is definitely one of the best strikers in the world and he’s a complete striker as he can from free kicks and team player as well unlike Mbappe and Haaland who cannot score from free kicks. It’s only a matter of time as Alvarez will be among the best in the world.
I think he is a better finisher than lewandoski. Comparing the big chances they got
80 M is cheap
a swiss army knife of a player, probably not the best fame magnet but everyone in the game knows how valuable he is
