Rice is a very good defensive player but not the backbone of Arsenal midfield. And to say he's the fabric of this Arsenal team is quite an exaggeration. Rice can be a good leader and protector of Arsenal back four but offensively he's very limited. He's presently more comfortable doing back and side passes. He's good in running up field with the ball but can't seems to do those decisive forward passes to his forwards or creates excellent scoring opportunities to his forwards like a Kevin Debruyne in his prime. His corner kicks are fabulous though, strong in swinging ball that contributed to Arsenal's fair share of goals. But he's also not much of a scorer. No poise or accuracy but he has the power cause he's a big boy. He's up field vision of plays are limited. And when he does sees open players, he's unable to execute the right and accurate passes. 105M is a lot of money for a one dimension player. He's in the big league now and needs to be a threat in scoring as well as making them consistently to be the fabric of the team. Rice is young and potentially can go further and be better. Roy Keane , Patrick Vieira, Virgil, Alan Hansen are more accurate description of a player as a fabric of a winning team.
At arsenal the problem is when Rice bringing the ball upfront the forward reduces their movement..only Trossard trying to make a run or bait opponent..
Overrated English lad.
