Raheem Sterling has told BBC Sport he is not a “money-grabbing 20-year old” after confirming he has turned down a new £100,000-a-week Liverpool deal. He also says he will not discuss a new contract with the Reds until the summer, no matter how big a deal he might be offered in the meantime. “It’s not about the money at all,” the England forward said. “It’s never been about money. I talk about winning trophies throughout my career. That’s all I talk about.”

  1. Look at him now. He has won numerous titles already at city, titles he wouldn’t have won if he stayed at Liverpool. Deluded Liverpool fans: Sterling is not a Liverpool fan nor does he come from Liverpool. He simply wants to win trophies and become the best he can be. Therefore, he made the wise choice of leaving and look at him now…

  2. Still sad he left, he could of been a hero at the club. Could of been part of our front three now but oh well turns out he’s a money grabber

  3. Answer the question Raheem. Liverpool fans want to know why. If you say its just about the football, why not sign the contract and then focus on football. Phew!!

  4. I’m Liverpool fan and I can say you made the right decision for your career. I would of loved to see a front three of sterling mane and salah but that would be narrow minded and selfish. The boy has gone on to win titles and play under a manager who has hugely improved the consistency of his performance. Oh and he’s making more than 100,000 a week. Wise lad, I tip my hat to you.

  5. This guy is going to leave Liverpool for sure. I think Rodgers needs to look for a replacement. Man city is cashed up and I reckon he will sign for them if they come knocking.

  6. I fear we will lose him to another club. I have a nasty feeling Man City will get him. I’m sure with the right manager we can win things. I know it’s a long shot but I think the Dortmund manager Klopp would be a good fit.

  7. I don't really blame him anymore. After all that Bobby duncan shit I've realised how slimy agents are. It was probably the same case here. Agent wanted money. Tells young player to leave for money, trophies etc. And the agent gets a massive payday without having to do anything but mislead a teenager.

  8. How dated is this now? Mane, Salah have all arrived, as well as Van Dijk and Allison with a PL win for the first time in 30 years, a Champions League and a Club World Cup.
Damn, even Sterling has won 2 PL titles, gaining most points in a single season with Manchester City. Seems to me that everybody won in the end!
Plus, £100,000 a week is nothing now (in terms of Football anyway) considering Jesse Lingard gets that now, and he does nearly nothing, playing a sporadic role at Manchester United.
With COVID-19, let’s make the most of the 2020/21 season in these times of hardship for everyone.

  9. If you can get more somewhere else why accept £100 k a week I wouldn't. If the club wanted to sell you, you had 2 options your dream club who are prepared to pay Liverpool 10 million or a lesser club with a rich owner prepared to pay £100 million who do you think Liverpool would sell to. Look after yourself and your family Raheem NW is proud of you.

  10. Imagine starting a scholarship in your name and only allowing non-whites to apply.
Oh wait thats exactly what he's doing now. OFC, it's only racist if it is the other way round. . .
