Ryan Rickelton (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi

Australia (Probable XI):
Matthew Short, Travis Head, Steven Smith (c), Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis (wk), Alex Carey, Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson/Sean Abbott

South Africa will be hopeful that the dangerous middle-order batter Heinrich Klaasen is fully fit for this blockbuster. The wicketkeeper batter was rested in the previous match against Afghanistan as a precautionary measure due to a left elbow soft tissue injury.
On the other hand, Australia broke records to come on top of their arch-rivals England by 5 wickets in a high-scoring fixture in Lahore. It was Australia’s first win in 16 years in this marquee event. Opting to bowl first, the Aussies were brilliant on the field and took a few outstanding catches but failed to stop Ben Duckett from scoring a daddy hundred. Duckett scored 165 and had Joe Root in the company, while the Kangaroos just looked out of ideas on the field.

Without Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins, Australia’s bowling was a tad weak. However, Ben Dwarshuis, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell and Marnus Labuschagne, who interestingly was Smith’s go-to bowler in the death, were amongst the wickets. Nathan Ellis was economical, given the run-fest, but Spencer Johnson failed to control the flow of runs.

At the halfway mark, with England posting a record 351/8, no one really gave Aussies a chance, to be honest. Any Australian team is not weak in an ICC event, but not when Travis Head and Smith were dismissed cheaply inside five overs. Matthew Short and Labuschagne steadied the ship. The former got 63, the latter 47. Both were taken care of in quick succession. England were looking relaxed.

Then, in came the calmness of Alex Carey and Josh Inglis. Both batted beautifully, mixing caution with aggression. The two wicketkeepers added in excess of 140 for the fifth wicket. Carey smashed 69 before Inglis went on to register his maiden ODI century. Inglis, along with Glenn Maxwell, who just teed off from ball one, took Australia over the line in the highest-ever successful run chase of the Champions Trophy.

A win in this match will obviously strengthen the respective team’s chances of making it to the semis.
