After an ideal start to Concacaf Champions Cup, the Seattle Sounders couldn’t quite turn a couple Jordan Morris goals into a win in their season-opening 2-2 draw vs. Charlotte FC. Should you be more encouraged by another solid attacking effort, or more tilted about that highly unfortunate own goal? We debate that as part of our game review, hit our Agenda Check, and check the pulse of the streets. Later on, we dig into a fun Matchday 1 slate in MLS that gave us a couple of surprise results, as well as a highly comedic showing from the Portland Timbers that delivered us our first Blazing Hot Coach Press Conference of the Week of 2025 (sponsored by Haxan Ferments).

Good morning!
DRAW POD!!!
Not happy with the own goal, fact is shit happens but having a really good feeling about the direction the boys are going.
Meow Wolf is the GOAT sponsor.
20 minutes left in a game is too long to try and change the game state and sit on a 1 goal lead.
Dont get me wrong I love me some Gerorgi. Maybe im a hater/doubter/bum but I dont think he's really a starter. Regardless of the all the depth chart/PDLV considerations, I think the super sub role tactically fits a lot better. I think he still a bit of a one (very neat) trick pony. Those 1v1 dribbles are easier and open up a lot more space when he's running at defenders who have already played 70+ minutes. Plus I think throwing him on later can change game states a lot, giving the sounders some energy if they start to flat line in the attack. Not going to be mad if he's in the 11 for rotation/match up reason but in my head he's better off as a role player.
39:59 some straw man arguments being made if you’re saying that people are mad at that corner. I think people are really just pissed at how bad we played that last goal.
The performance was good, yes. Was it promising? Absolutely. But for the kid to say it’s not a bad result is a terrible take. We dominated them, we were at home, and we lost the game from our own silly error. That’s a bad result and to say otherwise is just as dumb and extreme as someone who thinks we’re completely cooked. Stop being so damn complacent 😂
I don't get how y'all are fine with the team not being aggressive enough for a 3rd goal AT HOME when your fans have been standing and singing in the RAIN the whole time. Yeah you have a game on Wednesday but you're 3-1 up on aggregate and you'll have a rested Ferrera, De La Vega, and JP.
Leaving a 1 goal lead was just inviting Charlotte the throw everything at the wall and pressure our already tired defenders.
W Pod. L Pod. Our resident Orca J Pod neighbors with not abide the Dub Pod slander.
I dont usually like short corners, but georgi got rusnak so much space by being a dribbling threat. I havent heard much about it since they didnt get a goal off it though.
Guys…This was a bad result. When people say "its the same shit from last season" we are talking about our teams ability to close out games. We looked great and dominated from the first minute…Then why cant we close out a game that we had won…in the dying minutes. Not mention that 2 points could mean the difference in finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the west.
O, fairest voices, wafting through the air, Lobbing forth, towards passions lair.
Like autumn leaves, the hot takes do fall, In golden hues of insight, one and all.
Their voices rise, a chorus, pure and bright, as they shower Rothrock with love and light.
And when the episode ends, and silence full, The memories linger, like a Nouhou goal.
A pox on the haters, let the dub pod be known, and always remember to never yacht alone.
Not sure why we're so surprised at the equalizer – this team dropped points at home after the 85th minute several times last year, often inexplicably. We played well, but we seem to be prone to these kind of bizarre individual errors.
The 5hole thru Frei’s legs was also Chef’s kiss
Love the AR call Noah. He had a helluva match. And if you watch the Yeimar OG youll see he had recovered to close the play down back post. He was so mad …
It’s more how ugly the own goal was in totality. It was a horrible mistake immediately followed by another horrible mistake followed by a mind melting mistake.
Yeah I can't really take anyone seriously who begins with "that goal doesn't count because." The discourse is useless. It gets even more useless when they follow with "if this other thing happened instead" because now they're trying to kwizatz haderach all the possible football futures as if there's a determinate way that a ball comes off someone's shin.
