  1. An absolute waste of his talent playing him as a deep lying playmaker, ugarte and amino should be adapting their game to bring balls forward.

  2. his propensity for low percentage balls would make him a liability in a midfield 2 long term to be honest- I don’t see that changing now as it’s arguably what’s held him back from becoming a truly world class player even as a 10

  3. As an United fan, quick no.
Amorim wants a ball progressor that can also press and create chances in his no 8. However, Bruno doesn’t have the composure and ball control ability to play there. He’s always more of a risk taker midfielder than a Pirlo-esque kind.

And this also raises an Amorim dilemma: does he play Bruno behind the attacker to create chance or play him as a no 8? Even if Mainoo isn’t injured, he has been struggling under Amorim’s formation due to a heavy workload every single player has to load (tactically).

  4. I'm not sure he has the physical traits for this role long term, plus losing the ball from deep is likely to have more serious repercussions than losing it in the final third. Against Everton he lost the ball a lot from deep, it didn't matter so much in the second half when he moved back because the game state meant Everton were sitting deeper and less likely to exploit.

  5. Bruno is one of the few players where the question about him in any position is not "Can he play that position?" (Because the answer is yes in every case except maybe goalkeeper) it's "Should he play that position?"

  6. For me, it's a natural transition if he stays with United. As he loses his energy and pace into his 30s he’ll need to rely on his technique and passing instead of his work rate

  7. As an elite coach , you need to be strive the balance between your basic principles or formation and the players you got. That’s why ancelotti is so good.

  8. Rather than play every player in a role that doesn't suit them, before shifting them all out and spending £500m-£1bn on a whole new squad who can play in his one niche system, maybe Amorim should learn how to setup a different tactical system. One that suits the players at his disposal. Revolutionary I know 🙄

I really hope these ultra rigid, control freak system managers are on their way out

  9. I think this could be the perfect role for Bruno long term if he can control his urges to be the hero. However this plan only works if the quality of the team improves around him. We don’t want him to have to be the hero anymore, but unfortunately for now he has to

  10. Don't see this working. Half of the reason Bruno is good has an inherent risk around it, that would be ridiculous to put full time into a pivot when we have had problems with giving the ball away in the middle and counters for years.

  11. Yea it fucks up bruno, but if he’s able to make the team work then it is what it is.

Still expect them to be shite for many more years until they’ve completely changed owners and replaced everything.
    I think they’re cursed rn.
