Orlando City SC fell to the Philadelphia Union in their home opener at Inter&Co Stadium on Saturday night via a 4-2 scoreline. The Lions will look to get in the win column in their second match of the season against Toronto FC, on Saturday, March 1, at Inter&Co Stadium.
City’s two goals came from newly acquired Designated Player Marco Pašalić, who made his MLS debut on Saturday night. Pašalić became the first player in Orlando City history to record a brace in his debut. The second goal of Pašalić’s brace was assisted by fellow new Lions midfielder Eduard Atuesta, who also started off the 2025 campaign by providing the secondary assist.
Despite having both more shots and shots on goal than Philadelphia, the Union converted on all four of their shots on goal. Orlando struck first just eight minutes into the game, but Philadelphia responded with four unanswered goals before the Lions were able to get one back in the 79th minute.

Very disappointed! You cannot make these mistakes in defense. Awful performance by the goalkeeper and the defense. Another injury… without Jahnson we’re too vulnerable. Very bad way to start MLS… should buy a CB as I keep saying !
Schoolboy errors ruined a kitchen sesh from Ojeda and Pasalic. They were cooking, five stars, fine dining. But the defence decided to bozo the game away.

Just find it funny how it’s the same thing every season with Orlando lol we have a team that on paper, should be destroying a lot of teams, but it’s odd errors after errors that make no sense. I don’t even mind Pareja and I think he’s basically our Diego Simeone, he’s here for the very long term, but sometimes I wonder what even are his tactics and his approach for this team. If we’re gonna be an early Mourinho Chelsea type of squad where we are defensively solid, but very fast on the counter, then you would think that with 5 years at the club, that certain system would have been implemented already. I don’t see any other type of system that Oscar as tried. It’s always similar to that
