Just had a thought and it might be an interesting concept. What if the VAR team were split into 2 teams, completely separate, uninfluenced. If they both agree independently then they go to the ref with their decision, if they don't agree, then they refer back to the ref to see what he thinks. This would tackle the 2 biggest issues I have with VAR. 1. When they start talking their way through an incident, too often the rest of the team get completely influenced by whoever is talking, changing their own perception, leading to everyone seeing it through 1 lads eyes and 2. The "clear and obvious error" thing is absolute nonsense, it leads to way too many decisions sticking with the on-field decision because they're not 100% convinced there's an error. If VAR isn't sure, protocol shouldn't be stick with on-field decision, protocol should be get the ref to have another look himself with all the angles to make his own decision. This would clear up so many decisions like this one for example, if Oliver had been told by VAR they weren't sure but they gave him the opportunity to have another look with all the angles, there's no way he sticks with a red card.

Please, please get someone else in to do this other than Owen – someone who can get some actual answers. Instead of getting Webb's true response he is constantly putting words into his mouth and guiding him to the 'safe' answer. No doubt agreed before the cameras start.

Another thing: these two honestly flip-flop from each end of the spectrum each month and it is painful to watch. One week Owen is yapping about only playing it at full speed and staying away from 'freeze frames' to get the accurate reflection of the incident; the next he is actively stopping it at the exact moment there is ever so slight contact in order to try and justify his employers decisions. One week it's "we had no choice" (Rice red card), the next it is: "we don't want to ruin games for that"…

This show had great potential but unfortunately it is too scripted, too watered down, and effectively it is just thirty minutes of Howard Webb trying to protect his boys, whilst Owen reads off the script he was given by the PL, who in turn let Sky & TNT use this for a "show", most likely because they have people like Dermot Gallagher justifying their incompetence each week.

Just an all round joke. They are making it up as they go along.

Corruption. Pure corruption. My issue is that Michael Webb care about PGMOL first and the quality of the game second, and that is what I take issue with.
