AC Milan won 2-0 at Empoli on Saturday thanks to second-half goals from Rafael Leão and Santiago Giménez in a Serie A clash that ended with both sides down to 10 men.

After a slow first half, Milan coach Sérgio Conceição sought to spark some life into his attack with the introduction of Giménez, Leao and Christian Pulisic, and his decision paid off, as the three substitutes were key in getting all three points.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men after Fikayo Tomori received a second yellow card in the 55th minute.

But the disadvantage was short-lived as Empoli’s Luca Marianucci was shown a straight red card following a VAR review for kicking out at Giménez 10 minutes later.

Leao then opened the scoring in the 68th minute with a towering header off a Pulisic cross and Milan’s new signing Giménez doubled the advantage with a superb curling effort 14 minutes from time.

Milan, who sit seventh in the Serie A with 38 points, next play at Feyenoord in the Champions League knockout playoffs on Wednesday.

  1. Santi Gimenez is the new Shevchenko. Abraham was awful and hopefully Milan will not sign him. Rumor has it that we are considering Lorenzo Lucca or Krstovic from Leece to add to our squad.

Our starting lineup was horrible. Musah and Jimenez are not wingers. Musah was better playing in midfield and Jimenez is better at left back or right back.

  2. Milan should use long balls if you want the best out of Santi, he isnt quick but his back to goal is so much better and he is a lefty so that is a dangerous player when he shoots. I just hope the coach realises this and realise that to get more goals out of this guy it is preferable to use more long balls. Empoli is always going to be a hard game at their home. The pitch is small and they press to reduce the time on the ball and made it impossible to run into any space. I said this again, these offsides are not happening out of nowhere, it is because they have clicked, this probably happens because Walker is on it.

  3. MOTM Pulisic. I also knew that we won't score with the first line up and we can't accept starting without either Pulisic or Leao. Now that we have more depth, we need to do smart rotations especially with Walker for the coming 2 months

  4. That was a piece of hard work today. Not a game for football gourmets but I like that the team adopted to it. Empoli did it really well and gave our offense a difficult task. This was the type of game you have to win by outworking your opponent.

  5. 2 game 1 gol and 1 assist, and he played only 70 minutes. What I like about him is his positioning on the field he knows how to lose the defenders and he knows how to pass too, 4-4-2 without him won’t work because Abraham doesn’t have Gimenez marking or passing

  6. I been waiting to see Pulisic and Felix creating opportunities for Santi. wow! they did not disappoint. Exciting times are coming. Can’t wait to enjoy this team. Not to mention walker on the back. Great market for Milan.

  7. Love Santigol, giving praise to the LORD!

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. ISAIAH 54:17.

  8. Great video, today was hard game, we already know it’s going to be like that, in defence we slightly get better and it’s good thing. As for Tomori, i can’t say much, ref lost control of the match and there was few questionable decisions. But this new attack has something special. Still lot of potential to be found, but if players get chemistry and non toxic locker room, it’s going to be game changing for us. Coach has my full support for now. Strong character that we needed desperately. Believe ❤️🖤

  9. at last we got our striker right….and jao close to score his premier goal in seri a…..but still we need jay idzes, he is striker killers ..he can be our next nesta…

  10. First 35 seconds of this video ☝

If you lived through the last 12 – 13 years. When he scored (if you were sitting at home and randomly said; "do we have a number 9" after that finish)…. You know… Sempre, FORZA MILAN!! 🔴⚫
