The result of the 23rd week of the English Premier League match between Tottenham vs Leicester City ended with a score of 1-2 at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium, London, Sunday (1/26/2025). Leicester City added to Tottenham Hotspur’s nightmare in the English Premier League after embarrassing the team nicknamed The Lilywhites with a score of 1-2.

Richarlison had given the hosts the lead but Tottenham failed to hold on to their lead. Leicester hit back through veteran striker Jamie Vardy before snatching victory through Bilal El Khannous. This result extends Spurs’ negative trend in the Premier League in the last seven matches which ended without a win and only won one point.

This defeat also means that Son Heung-min and his friends have only won once in their last 11 league matches since humiliating Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on November 23.

Tottenham are stuck in 15th place in the standings with 24 points from 23 games. They will return to action on Friday (31/1) WIB in the Europa League against Elfsborg before returning to Premier League action two days later against Brentford.

Meanwhile, the win ended Leicester’s seven-game losing streak in the league and was the Foxes’ second three points since Nistelrooy took charge. With the win, Leicester moved out of the relegation zone with 17 points in 17th place. Their next game is at Goodison Park against Everton on Saturday (1/2).

Tottenham started the first half very well, with Richarlison opening a golden opportunity for the home team in the 5th minute through a one-on-one situation with Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk who still failed. In the 12th minute, Spurs got another chance. This time Pape Matar Sarr tried his luck with a hard, right-footed shot. However, Stolarczyk still easily secured it.

The goal the home crowd had been waiting for finally happened in the 32nd minute through Richarlison’s header that ripped through Leicester’s goal. The Brazilian striker managed to escape Wout Faes’ guard when he received Pedro Porro’s cross. The score was 1-0 for Spurs and remained until halftime.

Entering the second half, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad made a surprise by turning things around in just four minutes. Not even a minute into the second half, Vardy registered his name on the scoreboard after welcoming Bobby Decordova-Reid’s flat pass.

Four minutes later, it was El Khannous’ turn to beat goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky as his shot from outside the box was not saved by the Czech goalkeeper. The score changed to 2-1 to the visitors.

In the rest of the second half, Spurs continued to pound Leicester’s defense. However, no goals were scored due to their poor finishing which failed to score a single goal from a total of nine shots created in the second half.
