Carrasco is a huge gamble at this point. He got benched in his last season at Athletico and his endproduct isn't really what we need. I also highly doubt his ability to cope with the intense fixture and nature of the premier league. 81 league games for athletico and he only played full 90 minutes in 11. Welbeck can do that. Hope it's just paper talk.
We need a couple World class Centre backs more than we need midfielders. We're leaking way to many soft goals and this NEEDS to be addressed.

There’s a business plan but that plan will have contingencies for particular needs and opportunities.
By opportunities I mean players of world class ability that would take us up a level or two.
The Suárez talk seems legit, Emery has spoken about him and how he fits the bill on what he feels he needs. Carrasco has probably been offered to us as a possibility by his agent. The same with James Rodríguez who’s been linked. Those two come under the opportunity bracket.
Suárez would be a good addition but he will be more of a hit or a miss than the ready made players.
I think any deals will go right up to the end of the window.

You only get one, Robbie. Either Carrasco or Suarez. Not both. Personally, I would love to have Carrasco. I liked him at Atletico. He has that enthusiasm to get forward and take shots (best example is his CL 2015-16 finals goal) , runs with great pace, has dribbling skills and has got that 'El Cholo' inspired grit. He will be an exceptional addition to the team.

I dont know why we dont look to buy a CB from pl. Actually why not try to buy any proven pl player at all. why didn't we bought shaquiri is a mystery to me.. Again getting carrasco or suarez should be good value for money. You can always sell them.. Buying players in Jan seems very reasonable to me. In this way the new players become ready to give strong performance in next season.. We should also get Hector Herreira signed. Torreira needs competition and cover too. And last but not the least buy a proven pl defender like maguire or tarkowski..

Ffs bolster the defence! Why is this club still speculating about signing technically good midfielders, of which we have enough already. If the last 10 yrs has shown us anything, it is that our back line is woefully inadequate to compete seriously.
