Jonathan Williams, Sir Frank’s eldest son and already one of the great F1 historians, moves to Race Nine in his Top Ten Favourite Williams races. The man behind WilliamsF1’s very productive Young Driver programme and a part-owner of the ultra-successful iSport GP2 team, Jonny recently spent considerable time selecting his ten favourite Williams races. Race Nine – the 1980 USGP East at Watkins Glen – may surprise you…but then you’ll understand why it’s on the list when you watch this video.

With thanks to AP Archive for the footage from the 1980 USGP

  1. Jonathan must be truly one of my favorite people in the motorsport. I really wish he had some sort of a social media account, most preferably on the IG…

  2. Peter, thanks so much. I'm just catching up on this countdown. Jonny clearly shares my enthusiasm for Alan Jones and FW07B so I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Time to go and read my Autocar Grand Prix World Championship '80 magazine!

  3. I properly started watching F1 in late 1980 so inevitably it was AJ and Keke that shaped my expectations for what it took to be a great Grand Prix driver. Williams quickly became my team and the Page & Moy 'fast and cheap' trips became the conduit.
