Great comments Phil , was a fantastic performance from sunderland with loads of quality,, but some of the comments from sunderland fans were really disappointed to say the least ! And the comments from Garry Bennett were disgusting towards Wilson Isidore and I would hope this morning he is ashamed of himself , no credit to the team whatsoever! Thanks again for your fair comments
Love yr comments and watch you all the time for yr honest opinion. BUT, why did Isador take the two penalties, they weren’t really good ones, and the first wasnt a penalty as it was just outside the box, VAR would have disallowed it but.. and Isador wanted to make amends so he took the ball out of Jobes hands, why? He looked more confident. This isn’t about Isador, someone tell Isador it’s a team game. Having said that I would have taken a point in the beginning. Now that new signing FEE is gonna be one of the best signing ever, he look class and is way above anyone else but start him in midfield please..
Sadly…The Ref can and does decide the outcome of games more than he should…Players influence and push the Ref to limits that they should not be allowed…Imagine that in a Rugby game…The players will be binned …Let the ref do his job…players need to just play within the rules and sportmanship of the game.
Sunderland had the scenario against Portsmouth where they went down 10 men and couldn't extend the lead. We instead got the ropey pen and were against 11 men. On the balance, a pen is more likely of a goal happening, so the events that did happen is what I would prefer.
Regarding Isidor stepping up to take the second one, I do admire that he didn't want to shy away but stand up to a crunch moment. We have lacked that that determined character in our squad, so it's a double shame he didn't score. I like Isidor a lot and maybe he'a not clinical, but he's a scorer of goals you don't expect which makes him very dangerous. He also loves the club and works so hard, even when he gets back injuries and stuff. I hope he comes back determined. All teams are looking for the clinical striker right now, so it goes to show how hard it is to be like.
Cold light of day – how many of us would have taken a draw at 8pm last night? We played really well, and made Burnley look very ordinary. As for Wilson. 9 times out of 10 that first penalty goes in. Let’s not mention it wasn’t a penalty in the first place!?! He had the nuts to step up and take the 2nd, deep into injury time. Again, 9 times out of 10 that penalty goes in. “Fans” getting on his back aren’t proper supporters! He is as critical to us being where we are as anyone, so get off his back! The bloke was hurting last night, Stevie Wonder could see that!! Come on, we’re better than that! Play like last night until the end of the season and we go up. Let’s get behind these lads who gave their all last night, as they have all season!
They aren't para players mate, they are players brought in from the sales of 90% of the PREM Kompany forged. . . most of the Para payments have gone into funding to 60mill debts from the take over a few years ago.. the books balance that's all. People forget how 'WE' Burnley have rose from the ashes of 30/40 years ago and the depths of the old 4th div to engage in the Prem for a number of years.. the club smartly invested and grew- Burnley earned every penny of where we sit right now both league position (and promotion once again) and financial…. Sunderland player really well, have a yong side also and Im pretty sure if its not auto to the prem then they will at very least hit the final of the play offs – I actually hope you go up that way.
Blade here, I think come the end of the season it may well be Leeds 1 and Sunderland 2. If we are not in the top 2 we must wait another year. We are really bad at play offs. I like the fact that Sunderland goes for it. In our case Wilder sometimes goes tactically defensive. I don’t like that. I prefer go big or go home. However all of that said….the football gods ….often cruel….still get their say. It’s a tight race.
For the first time this season, Burnley will consider a home draw as a point gained and not two dropped. Says a lot about the performance. RLB got his selection and tactics right. After a suspect opening twenty minutes we grew into the game and by the end we could lay claim to being the better team. ELF showed more than enough to show he will be an asset. Has to play more central but who drops out? The midfield trio was excellent last night. That said we need rotation we did look tired towards the end but we're still the team going for it and looking most likely. The excellent Isidor will use last night as fuel for the rest of this season . A young team didn't play like one. Pride is the foremost emotion after last night.
The fact that RLB not only started ELF out of position but opted to get ninety minutes into his legs when he should've taken him off around seventy minutes is a clear indication that he wants him in the starting lineup. A square peg in a round hole is understandable given the lad's talent. Surely our left-sided players will be reinstated when fit. EFL will play centrally. Hopefully, Samed can force his way into the reckoning and Browne will be back. We will have fierce competition for midfield places. This can only raise the game of our current outstanding trio. Last night could well be a very significant game in our season.

I have to say, I think both Nick Barnes and Mr Bennett have been pretty poor for many years. Sometimes I think I have been to a different game.
Very measured & intelligent analysis as usual Phil. Well done

Phil, I wish we had Anthony on our right wing. Thought he gave poor Dennis the run about.

There are NO excuses for a professional footballer to miss 2 penalties in the same game.
ESPECIALLY putting them in the same place. Absolutely ridiculous.
Sunderland should have been 2-0 down in the first half so I think as bad as it was 0-0 not too bad don't you think 🤔

Excellent assessment as usual Phil! Howay the lads !
