Shawn Johnson talks about how she started her career as a gymnast. Gymnastics was not the agenda for her parents. Shawn says it became a realistic dream & goal to go to Worlds & Olympics. She also writes & loves poetry.

  1. Your poem is beautiful and has so much meaning in it. As a former competitive ice skater I have felt that way so many times. You put it into words better then I ever could. Hope you have a long happy career in any and everything you do with your life

  3. "No goals", "Well, you know..", "It just happens.. so easily". No doubt did she work hard, but after watching Gabby's story, this really highlights how the complexities of race and human geography are so strikingly relevant and inextricably tied to this idea of "success".

  4. She was always such a good interviewer. I always thought that about her–very well spoken and insightful even when she was just getting into the spotlight.

  6. Honestly her coaches are one of the main reasons why she is the way she is if it wasn’t for them encouraging her Shawn’s positive attitude wouldn’t of kept on being positive
