  1. I hope he just comes in and plays to the best he can. If thats not good enough anymore then fair enough but i really hope he comes in and just gives his all. Seems like a really nice lad and a great person to have in the dressing room as he seems to get on with everyone and can only be good for morale. I was hopeful as he showed a bit of promise to be a good decent 2nd or 3rd option 😊

  2. I think Malacia is not good enough even before the injury. I hope he can first get lot of training under his belt & play some minutes in the Europa League
I think the Premier League might be too intense for someone who has been out injured so long. I fully expect Malacia to be loaned out next season with view to sale more than likely back to Holland. Hopefully he can rebuild his career & play many matches still at relatively high level.

  3. 5 Things to expect:

    1. Tyrell Malacia will not have progressed from the backup prospect that he was signed as
    2. Tyrell Malacia will have become a worse prospect after not playing football for over a year
    3. Tyrell Malacia will pickup a long term injury again pretty soon after his return confirming he has at least successfully apprenticed Luke Shaw
    4. No club will buy Tyrell Malacia because he earns almost as much as Andy Robertson despite being a backup player who doesn't even play football
    5. Tyrell Malacia will leave Manchester United for free in June 2026 having not contributed anything meaningful to the team

Bonus: Steve will make a 5 things we learned about overpaying players video at some point in the near future and it will feature an advert in the middle that everyone clicks off at

  4. We have to be realistic. He has had zero minutes of top level football for almost two years. I just can't see him being able to come back to EPL football. It's way too demanding. I think his best chance is to to return to France or try in the Turkish/Portuguese/Belgian leagues.

  5. Always liked him , but he did get 'heat' from some fans . Personally I though he was on the way with a reasonably decent career but with Shaw and his own injuries things went awry . He was agressive and with him and Martinez on the left , there was balance on that side . He deserves a shot again . We need to expand the panel one way or the other .

  6. He was raw when we signed him, how he's a 20odd year old kid that plays like a 17 year old, he's 3 years behind and we can afford to allow him to catch up unfortunately, for what 1/2 years of prime before his injury history catches up, learn your lesson with Shaw and cut your losses

  7. Malacia didn't want to use the UTDs recommended surgeon. He used a surgeon in Holland. Who left pieces of cartilage in and around the muscle they repaired. 2 options. 1 hope it breaks down and us absorbed by the body. Or, have another surgery. The 2nd is what happened after trying the 1st. His choice of surgeon cost him 18 months.
He did look like he hadn't lost any of his pace in the 1st half he played last week though. U21s isn't a team. Their passing is terrible. Unlike the u18s who are exciting to watch. They mastered ETHs style of play straight away. Easier to teach kids he said and he was right.

  8. Ste.. everyone is excited to see this new era 343/3421 formation from Amorim, but will it be anticlimactic to see him line up a 4231 against Ipswich, or the right move?

  9. I thought he showed tenacity and grit for a little fella. When he first signed and was in the team. He linked up well with Martinez. I think he fed off his energy and yeah. There’s a player in there

  10. Like everyone else is saying, it's been so long it's tough to judge. I do recall him being inconsistent – but he's young, so that's not surprising. As he showed when he outplayed Salah, he has got footballing ability, but can he be coached to perform at that level consistently? And it's hard to guess what effect such a long term injury will have on his ability – both physical and mental.

  11. Malacia wasn't great before he got hurt, he was rash, read the game kinda off sometimes and he hasn't played in over a year. If United are smart they off load he and Luke Shaw and use Alvaro/Armas and deal with some growing pains.

  12. He wasnt much good when he was fully fit. Why do u think he wud be any good after a long injury. The best thing we cud hope for is for him to stay fit and be 2nd or 3rd choice
