This is a thing that happens to a lot of could've been greats. They hit that career crossroads and their trajectory is right. So big guys come calling. Going to a city or a Madrid sounds great guarantees winning. But what position do you play. Who at the club plays that position. Will you beat that guy out. Usually not. You get pushed down the bench and forgotten.
Generational talent 😂 leave it out 100 mil? Not worth 40 mil and that’s being kind. Draws an odd foul here and there and that’s it. Oh and loves to give the ball back to fullback all the time
Generational talent strives on different systems. He is just a talented football player.
Agree. But the game has changed. Midfielders have different qualities in the top teams like eg. a rice and or Rodri. His not a creative midfielder like de bryne or odegaard. His way better than farnendes at Man U. Can’t even compare. He needs to play in a team with def mid behind him and another mid next to him and have a free role. However no one plays with free role midfielders.
I can't even imagine how out must feel for him to be mostly benched and wasted at City, watching his former teammates living his dream of playing Champions League football with Villa.

Receiving the ball off the back 4 and carrying it through the midfield into attack is his best quality.
