Hey, soccer fans! Well the rumor has been debunked – Aaron Long is not coming to the Chicago Fire. He signed a new, long-term contract with his current club, LAFC, believed to be through 2027. I admit I jumped on the bandwagon of speculation for this rumor, but I also laugh at people calling it “not a real rumor.” What’s the definition of a rumor anyway!? The Fire will now have to turn elsewhere to fill their need for a new starting Center Back.

But the Fire did sign a new striker. They’ve finalized a contract with David Poreba of their MLS Next Pro team. With Chicago Fire II, Poreba won the MLS Next Pro Golden Boot and MVP awards while helping the team win a playoff match. This young player is a good development project, but could also signal that parting ways with Georgios Koutsias is not too far off.
