Rice done well but Saliba was motm for me. That was his best game in an Arsenal shirt for me. Defending was perfect, he was linking up play in midfield and he scored aswell. Hes thr best in the world in my opinion
I love Saliba. I feel like his head was turned a bit by Madrid in the Summer. The prospect of linking up there with Mbappe et al. It seems he's properly shaken that off now. He was imperious yesterday. And scored with his butt.

Your analysis is adept as usual. Thank you. Personally I didn't see the second half but from the 1st half that I saw, saliba did command our defending covering for the other guys and making them good (kiwior) . That was a performance but again o was shocked when I woke up and saw rice as the motm. In that 1st half, he really didn't impress at all and this exposed partey making him go side to side on the ball. My thoughts

He's the best and most complete CB in history, nobody else comes close. Peak VVD is just Btec Saliba.
One of the signs you have a top drawer CB is if they can still put in an absolutely dominant performance and shut out the opposition playing with someone next to them who is nowhere near their level.
Look at Sol Campbell when we used to bring in Cygan when Toure wasn't playing. Cygan was an absolutely awful defender but for the most part Arsenal could just about get away with it because Sol was so so good, same with Rio Ferdinand playing next to Wes Brown or Silvestre – both nowhere near the same level as Rio but he was so good like Sol you could get away with it.

Saliba was masterclass. I was scared he’d been less confident since the red card vs bournemouth but he was wonderful.
There’s a reason I bought the jerseys of William Saliba and Martin Odegard! They operate on a different level. They just understand the game so well. Salibas body movement and positioning is second to none!
The more people talk about him, the closer he'll be to a Madrid transfer.
We have a great defensive squad. We all know the starting 4, but with White, Kiwior, Zinchenko to rotate with, there are hardly any weaknesses and so many tactical options to utilise

Saliba dribbling past pressing attackers like he's having a walk in the park and 2-3 pigeons are in his way. He just slowly walks through them like they weren't there.
It's still not clear if he's the BEST CB in the world, but no one can name any CB with better ball control and composure. He will become the Best soon enough, just needs more experience.
