Demba Ba was not signed to be the main striker. He was signed as a backup for Torres (and sometimes Eto'o). So, I disagree when you said it did not work out for him.
He has the best conversation rate of players with +25 shots in the league according to Whoscored. He's level with Palmer and he doesn't take penalties. The club made a masterstroke decision. Since everyone was screaming for another big striker signing, they analized Jackson was worth it.
