What do you mean fans owe him apology? You perform good and you get praised. You perform bad and you get criticism. Its a competitive sports mate , not a charity.
He was obviously hit by low confidence due to the fan backlash last year. This season he seems more like the player we signed.
I didnt rate him from the first minute of the first friendly…but seeing all the praise he gets i opened my mind….what an amazing keeper i thought as he was megged for the second goal the other day..

Was it worth 60 million to replace a good goalkeeper with a good goalkeeper? Ten Haag may still be in a job if he spent that money differently, don’t get me wrong I like Onana but I think he was a part of the 200 million splurge that didn’t get us anywhere and killed Eric

He has been better but also is protected by 5/6 up front most of the time. That is one of the reasons that why we can't flood the opposition box. He still lacks flexibility, reflex and too heavy lower body. He will always concede more goals than any other typical better GKs. he lacks the world class shot stopping ability. I still think he should be sold in 2 years time for a better keeper. This is my opinion, you all are entitled to yours.
People forgot just how long it took for DDG to settle at United. Guy looked mega lightweight when he arrived and plenty thought he'd never make it. Sometimes it just takes a minute for people to get up to speed
I think United is the only place genuine top players on the world in previous seasons can go, and instantly be labeled a flop/ not good enough/ overrated. There is 0 chance that Onana, who has been to a semi/ and final as one of the best in the world went to United and he was instantly SHITE. 1 mistake is all you're afforded before you're labeled bad. We have a lot of of nerve talking about Chelsea/ ARSENAL especially/ etc when this club is on top of the world after 1 win with the best players and after 1 lose everybody is terrible and not good enough. Just no middle ground at all
Plus look at that damn defense he was behind, in a squad letting Everton and other terrible teams let in 20+ shots a game.

There’s no stat or real way of acknowledging a save a keeper makes to keep a lead or keep it at a draw, Onana has done this so many times already this season
Gotta be honest i was as probably most of us not to happy with Onana when he cost us the CL. But ever since we dropped out of CL I appricate him as our keeper because in my mind the argument can be made we wouldn`t have gotten into Europa without Onana. And genereally i feel like he gives our at times shaky defence a calm presence. Cant begin to imagine how many games unnder ETH we would have lost without him.

My criticism of Onana was that the club and the manager set him up for failure. A lot of us knew that bringing a new GK without an adequate backup bcos of history showing that it takes time to adjust in United as a GK.
They wrote of the previous season from the start.
Lana is straight trash. 80% of the shots are going directly towards him. He's not making worldly saves like De Gea. Sell the dude and bring De Gea back. (Which I know will never happen)

I like Onana but feel he is playing the wrong team, it was parent under ten hag and same under ammorin . compared to Ajax and specially inter where he was massive part of the team setting off counter attacks. It’s just a shame his full skill set will not be used. I like the fact he never dropped his head and shooed away from the pressure.
Still think de gea was better fit us. I think he would suit Amorim’s setup better shame ten hag decided to screw him over

Getting rid of DDG was the right decision, but how we went about it was disrespectful. He was the only player left from the Fergie era, and is arguably a club legend
Still unconvinced by Onana. Stats say otherwise but still think he doesn’t make basic saves. Then makes the odd great save. His distribution hasn’t lived up to the hype either.
I think Howson said on the Paddock that stats can hide underlying issues, when talking about the attack.
So on that note, I think there are 2 fundamental problems with Onana
1. His positioning and 2. Lack of commanding his area.
I think he’s getting away with it this season.
But last season he was horrendous and I put the final league finish down to him. De Gea would have conceded far fewer goals even if he had made the same mistakes as he did in his final season.
I don’t understand why Paddock and Howson have given Onana a free pass. In no way is he an upgrade on DDG even if you think DDG was past it.
Personally I thought replacing DDG was needed but a low priority and having a striker and DCM was more important
