Brisbane: Awer Mabil struck from distance to earn Australia a 1-0 win over New Zealand in Brisbane on Thursday to stake his claim to a place in the Socceroos’ starting line-up when Graham Arnold’s side feature at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Finals.
Mabil beat Oli Sail from distance in the 32nd minute with the only goal of a game that marked the 100th anniversary of Australia’s first-ever international and was the Socceroos last on home soil before travelling to Qatar in November.
