“Without Van dijk Liverpool were a shadow of the team” hold on there just a second Micah, Liverpool also had Matip and Gomez out injured for the majority of that season. The next choice was Henderson at centre half but they also had injuries in midfield so they had to rely on Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams (6th and 7th choice CBs). Hate how these so called experts distort the facts to suit their argument

I get what micah is saying but he's using it for the wrong point… missing rodri has a two-fold effect.
1. missing the player who did so much in his side, they don't have someone who can replicate that at the snap of a finger. U can't replace someone at that level 1 for 1.
2. The imbalance it's causing around him as u try to replicate what rodri did. U need a few players to cover certain roles/tasks rodri did. Not all players can multitask efficiently and end up trying to do too much at once.
Such a lazy and inaccurate narrative around what happened to Liverpool in 20/21. Something you’d expect to hear out of Rory Jennings mouth, not an ex player.
VVD got injured in October and Liverpool were top at Christmas. We did not replace the departed Lovren in the summer, then VVD got injured. Then Matip. Then Gomez.
We were kicking about with Fabinho and Henderson at centre half. Panic loan signings like Kabak etc. ended up coming 3rd with Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips at the back.

Chemistry is a funny thing..Sturridge is interrupted by Micah – despite building valid points. Micah does not yield the floor, despite making the same old points already made by many, thus leaving Sturridge frustrated..Micah is interrupted by a calm Keane and both Micah and Sturridge just listen. The power dynamic between Sturridge and Micah is visually off.

Lazy punditry because it wasn’t just Van Dijk being injured, Liverpool were top after he got injured. It’s when we lost Matip, Gomez, Trent, Fabinho, Henderson etc… we lost almost the whole spine of the team that season and Sky in particular were commenting how Liverpool were “bad champions” without taking the injuries into account.
