  1. Cant fault his shot stopping ability but his feet distribution is horrible. Watching Newcastle play Pope makes me nervous playing out from the back. Otherwise, he kicks it out of play or to an opposing player

  2. Pope lets in too many goals that he shouldn'tn near posts, getting a hand on a ball but not stopping it, can't catch always punches away, bad distribution and uncomfortable on the ball. He isn't even the 3rd best English goalkeeper and this is coming from a Newcastle fan. He is good, he is not of the level that Newcastle or England need. Lower to mid table team keeper hands down. A solid keeper but wouldn't trust him in a competitive side chasing trophies. Trafford is the future number 1. Pickford is the best English goalkeeper but the difference in level is not massive. We really struggle with having world class English goalkeepers. Haven't seen a world class English keeper since Spunky. Joe hart on his day was world class but so is any player on their day. Pope I haven't seen a world class performance from him in a while. Not saying he is bad but he isn't close to being the England's number 1.

  3. As an old school keeper he is perfect his shot stopping is better than every england keeper right now but he has the feet and distribution of a sunday league player

  4. It's a bit of a myth about Pope's poor distribution that I'll call Emperors Clothes on. Everyone repeats it, but his long ball distribution is almost on par with Alison and Pickford. His passing accuracy is actually ok. He makes FEWER passes than the keepers above because that isn't necessarily Newcastle's style but the accuracy isn't poor by any means. I've based this on the 2022-2023 stats because that's the last time all three keepers played 37 matches. I'd even suggest that Pope kicking it out of play is actually increased when Newcastle are winning matches.. why? Because it's part of their dark arts to slow the game down and frustrate the opponent.

  5. Stop punching the ball as your primary instinct! It mostly keeps the pressure on us. Catch & collect the ball as much as possible. Then I could forgive your kicking.

  6. This is a joke. Nick Pope is a liability. He makes fatal mistakes in every game. Martin Dubravka should be starting in goal ahead of him. Eddie Howe is prejudice and favours average British players
