Those that still say he didn't deserve it, just look at Man City right now. Then also go back to last season, Man City lost only 3 league games last season, all those games had one thing in common- Rodri didn't play! He's the most important player at Man City and probably the most important player to a team's system in Europe.

The Balon d'Or has been made bigger than it actually is. I'm a huge Messi fan btw.
Even as a Messi fan I'd say those 8 wins don't mean that much. What really means is the eye test on the pitch. What the players showcase during their matches throughout their career. You just can't give an individual award in football. It's a teamsport for a reason. Not even Messi or Ronaldo could do the things they did without their teams.

2. What really matters is what the players showcase on the pitch
3. It's an award given by journalists (other awards are also given by votes from captains, managers) All those individual awards are just silly popularity contests. Ronaldo's 5 and Messi's 8 could be thrown out of the window tomorrow and we still would've seen them play spectacularly throughout their careers.
In my opinion Messi is the best ever. But I came to that conclusion through watching him play from 2005 to 2011. I saw him debut in 2005 during the youth World Cup, saw him perform amazingly well in 2009 and I remember saying ''he has to keep this up for at least a few years to be called the greatest ever'' and around 2011/2012 I was sure of that. Not because of the individual awards he won or the titles he won with Barca. But because of his dribbles, passing, goals, vision, feints etc. I saw in every match I watched him play.
This guy has been speaking non stop , it’s like his trying to prove to himself he was the worthy winner , when everyone knows he wasn’t
This mentality this confidence this is what makes him a cut above the rest.
The other ones on the other hand only goal scorers or joining a big club.
