Hopefully Canadian players opt in to playing the Gold Cup rather than fielding a B team. We need the best chances for getting an actual trophy
Josh, how come you don't do watchalongs anymore?
What's your biggest takeaway?
Good win! It's the type of result that is both expected and required of a team that wants to remain in the ascendancy. Mexico in California in March will be a big test. Thought Miller was better than Waterman in place of Cornelius but our lack of depth there is a bit concerning. Like how the central midfield is coming along. Sigur plays there too, in fact that's all he plays in Croatia. Fullbacks were great. We were playing a drinking game where you had to drink every time Laryea drew a foul and/or got into it with an opponent so we are a bit hung over today lol. Last thing for me is a question that comes up because I am not completely sold on our current wide attacking players and believe we lack depth there (and quality if Buchanan doesn't return to his old form). The fact that we need to turn to a 34 year old Jr Hoilett is clear evidence of this. What is up with Santiago Lopez, has he declared yet? If so, Mexico or Canada? How about Corbeanu? Marsch doesn't rate him? How about Koleasho? Given up on him declaring for Canada?

Great win. My only disappointment was all the fans dressed in winter gear. It was in the 40’s! Someone needs to tell them they are Canadian and should be out there in shorts and t shirts.
Their set pieces improved in this game. That was a key area that needed improvement.
Buchanan looked a bit rusty on his finishes but flashes of talent and skill were there. Good to have him back. Crazy to think we didn’t even have a couple key players in the line up.
All valid points, but how is it that you mention the names of people who didn't even play in this game, but you ignore the dude who literally left his blood on the pitch? (Unless I just missed it.) Kamal Miller deserves a shoutout for effort alone. C'mon, now. This is Canada. If you're out there bleeding because you're playing that hard, you deserve to be recognized.
I think the players that really made their name with the national team this year are Moïse Bombito and Jacob Shaffelburg, who are going to be players that Canada will be seeing and watching for years to come.
When will we know who we play in the semi-finals?
I have to admit, I have under appreciated Ali Ahmed. He is a really solid player. He does need to work on his end product but his inter play with other players and his build up play, along with his pressing is very good. I probably undervalued him due to him playing in MLS, my prejudice, ooops. That said, I can see him playing at a bigger club in Europe in the future.
Not buying the myth of the crafty Surinamese street ballers that revitalized the Netherlands…these fools looked absolutely lost!!!!!!!…and too Canada too boot !!!!!
However Let add this New Canada is on the up an up…playing nice football and thank god ..they now have better looking kits as well!!!!!!
Much deserved Canada and Canadian fans ..you deserve it and continued success!!!!!!!…
If it's not now, it's never. Canada is winning Nation's League – book it!

Shaff and Laryea looked really good together. The left side is a conundrum, cause if we're honest, Davies and Shaff have not linked up well at all. Davies jives well with Millar but Shaff's obviously been more productive up top. I had really hoped to get a look at Adekugbe this window but can understand that Marsch just hasn't had enough time with him yet. Hope we get to see how Davies and Ahmed might pair up at some point prior to '26. Gotta figure out what the most productive pairing is on that left side.
Great job JDD
Aren’t TFC geniuses for letting Shaffelberg go for nothing !
