Scally was meh except that he started the play leading to Turner's penalty foul by passing the ball to Jamaica. But I did like the spirit displayed by the team. And I think it's a bit harsh for Ream. Yes, he's definitely on the decline. But he's sadly still top 3 as far as our center backs. For the national team right now, who's best with the ball at his feet as a center back? Not sure McKenzie or Richards are better right now. Just my opinion… š

The US got outplayed. Jamaica had more shots, and we had to save a PK to win 1-0. Ream blocked two of Leon Bailey's shot. Everyone noticed this during the game. Charlie Davies even pointed it out. Poor tactics once again. It was good to see Pulisic going all over the field to get the ball and control the passing. There's no way that this 1-0 win over Jamaica is some sign that Poch is doing well. He's had awful tactics and lineups.
Field was such garbage, trapping in the first 20 minutes was terrible. Iām not going to complain about anyone on the ball. Got the win and moving on.
Tessman was impressive this game. Really imposing his physical presence on the field. Glad to have him starting.
No one seems to be mentioning McKenzieās positioning on the penalty. He keeps Nicholson onside by 5 yards. Heās nowhere near the defensive shape and his man (Gray) isnāt even making a run. The striker would not have even touched the ball if he was in position. Not to bag on him too much, but I think a lot of his ābad luckā comes from lack-of-awareness mistakes. Hope he eventually irons those out because thereās a good player in there.
Replacing Ream isn't that easy. No CB has his experience at the high level week in week out. I think Poch is planning for the future but no good understudy for Ream has shown up ( maybe Mark Mckenzie) to absorb knowledge and learn to manage games from the back. CB, sweeper, whatever is a tough and thankless job with low margin for error. Offense knows what they want to do, D has to react constantly and correctly.
We didn't look good but we won an away Concacaf game so that is already a step in the right direction
I'm glad that Morris and Aaronson were out because I prefer Johnny and Tessman.
Vasquez blew his chances. Should have taken a shot on that first opportunity instead of trying to pass it back. Then his 2nd shot was weak.

I think that you are overrating Jedi. He had many more poor passes than Scally, or anyone else for that matter. Even worse, he did not adapt to the show pitch.
My view is it's all about results right now, since there are so few competitive games between now and the WC in '26. Having said that, the bar should be raised very high for everyone in the squad. If you don't/can't perform you shouldn't be brought in. We can't continue to give players chances. Experiment with new players and combinations in friendlies and find a group that can get the job done consistently.
Hi Gents, regarding your comment around 12:20, I don't think Scally is slotting in while Dest is out. When Dest is fit, I don't see Poch playing Dest as a RCB. I see Dest playing more as a wingback like Robinson and Musah are playing now. I actually think it's possible we see Scally and Dest both occupying the right side, with Scally playing behind Dest. Thoughts?
Good breakdown as always. This was a classic āmeh game, butā game. Jamaica defeated Jamaica more than anyone, including the USMNT. They have the 4th best talent overall in CONCACAF, but are only the 7th or 8th best team because they donāt pull it altogether. They were disorganized. They missed the PK (great save, but the PK effort could have been better). They had the 2nd best chance of the entire match and didnāt convert. Red card by Holgate. (Also, that was a handball and they should have been awarded another PK).
BUTā¦. And there it is, despite that, we grinded out the win and that is key. Credit for that. The fact that Pochettino has already matched Berhalterās CONCACAF away win total is stunning / shameful and says all we need to know about GGG. Poch is going to win games like this and thatās not something we did before.
