Everton fell to a 1-0 defeat to Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon – after the Blues saw a late equaliser disallowed for offside.

The defeat marks the end of a five-game unbeaten run for the Toffees, who conceded through Adam Armstrong’s 85th minute goal – a first-time finish that arrived just moments after Beto had hit the bar for Everton.

Four minutes later, the forward was involved again – this time seeing an 89th-minute goal ruled out after a lengthy review from VAR.

  1. Was at the game, DCL was useless. We basically played with 10 men until the 60th when Beto came on. McNeil was poor too, could tell he was definitely still a bit injured. How we didn’t win the game despite the shocking performance I will never know.

  2. I’m sick of watching this kind of football, it’s dreadful, it’s on a wing and a prayer that we win or even score a goal. How can you win if you don’t have the ball.

  3. There were many dangerous moments that left Armstrong free. His poor shooting accuracy was what saved us, but we couldn't fix it and ended up conceding a goal in the final minutes. And there was no clear attacking tactic. I thought Everton was playing without a manager in this game. Sean Dyche uses players and substitutes as he feels. Otherwise, this great team would never have made such a disgrace.
