Chelsea doesn’t need to be embroiled in a situation similar to lukaku.
What does Enzo do that nobody else on the team can do? Is that worth all the problems required to accomodate him properly without creating weaknesses in the team?
IMO, he's a solid passer of the ball. He can hit some great long passes. That's really about it as far as his current abilities are concerned. He could develop into something more if he could be bothered working on his game intelligence, his shooting, his physical abilities… But he's been here for nearly two years and if anything his level has decreased.
I don't mind the dream of Enzo but the present Enzo just isn't good enough. He can't be a defensive midfielder because his overall defensive game just isn't up to it. He can't be a number 10 because he's just not doing much in the final third. He backs away from crowded spaces, doesn't make forward off the ball runs, doesn't take fights in the box, and doesn't offer any significant shooting threat from the edge of the box.
So what can he be? He could be a balance player who supports the 10 and the DM, except the DM struggles because Enzo can't help him enough and his assistance to the 10 is also not really impressive. What he can be, then, is a regista of sorts, except we just don't need one. The team is full of players that are very capable of making quality passes, so trying to centralize that duty with Enzo just doesn't offer a big gain relative to the cost of not the grit and work rate of a Lavia type player.
Against the level of physicality we're playing against, Enzo + DM just won't do. That means we need two DMs and Enzo. But if we do that then how do we also manage the required 5 attacking players? Unless Enzo is supposed to be part of the attacking 5, but then we've seen how that doesn't work over and over.
Alternatively, we'd have to commit to playing counter-attacking football. Back 3, double 6, Enzo as the mobile 8 to hit the long balls, wingbacks and double forwards run the counter. That would work very well with Enzo's abilities. But that's not really the direction we're going in, is it? All in all, we can twist and turn and bend and weave until we get seasick but I just don't see a way to make the current Enzo work well in this Chelsea team.
Players lik 11:44 e Joao Felix, Enzo Fernadez, Nkunku Mudrykmust wait for their chances and try their level best to convince their coach for a place in the starting eleven ; otherwise they must leave if they are inpatient : I personally think we need them in case our best players get injured: We need a comprehensive depth in our team to compete as a top 4 team.
