On the evening of August 29, 2019, Luis Enrique revealed the death of his daughter Xana Martinez Enrique.
Xana died from Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer in which tumors produce immature bones. Xana passed away aged 9, after an intense five-month battle with cancer. The news shocked the world of football, and tributes from clubs and players alike poured in from around the world. Lionel Messi led the tributes, saying: “We are with you, all the strength in the world”.
