Bolling has had a very good career. He never ducked races and in my opinion he ran far too many meets over the years. He needs more rest between meets.
The 400m seems like the best fit for him on the track. That was his specialty in high school during his sophomore and junior years so I think this was a good move. I would still like to see him compete more in the long jump as he's demonstrated some special abilities in that event. That PB of 8.25m is definitely elite level.
The depth in US sprints makes it very difficult to earn position on our national team. It requires an ability to run sub 45.0 twice to make our national finals. Boling has the problem of having to compete against such an elite group. I hope he hangs in there and continue to make progress.
USA is crazy strong in 200m and 100m almost no one in the world can make the US team. Not even Christian Coleman could make the men's 100 or 200 M team. People that don't like him because he's white say that he should quit trying to run 100 or 200 although they would never tell black people that took fourth fifth and less that they should quit just him because he's white. He should definitely keep running those two races because that's what he's best at and he may never make a US team but heck probably only five people ever will
Keep making videos about him as you see fit. Disregard the haters.
Great video. Boling needs to work through the transition. I think he’s going to do fine. All of the haters who compare him to the 16-year-old seem to forget that the 16-year-old pulled a 47+ split in the relay in the Olympics. A lot of people can run fast and all of them can run slow. Look at Norman this year. The ringside experts should keep their mouths shut and let these guys do their best. We should be pulling for all of them.
that 9.98 was wind assisted.
Kudos to Matthew it’s just natural progression the further you go up to stiff for the competition of course she will stand out especially in high school and a little more in college, but going up against the world’s fastest. He is still learning he is still young. He’s doing the right thing working hard. Hope he stays healthy and I’m sure we will see him at a lot of invitationals probably the world championship and of course Olympic trials.
Boiling definitely is a 200m runner.
Is he still swaying from side to side like he was a couple of years ago? If he can fix that he can improve his time a bit more.
Bolling is good, but that's not good enough to run with the elites. He is nowhere running close to below 44 sec in the 400, which means that on the international stage, he will always be in the rear view mirror of the the elites. On the elite level in track, the race is over before it begins with folk like Boling. They may have the POTENTIAL to do great after an awesome splash on the scene in HS and college, but when they turn pro, everyone is running for a livelihood, and not the enjoyment of running like in college and HS. It's a dog eat dog world, and if you do not have a mentality of steely resolve, you will fall by the wayside…..as hie is doing these days…
Over hyped.. . That's what happen.
If I'm being honest, dude should've concentrated on Long Jump.
He's an 8m plus jumper … 8.25m pb.
If he put all his eggs in THAT basket, he might actually make a US team for an individual event.
Either way, he's still got a World Gold relay medal. Better than 99% of the public will accomplish.
He needs to get on the juice and itts good that he left 100ms
You overhyped him that is what happened bro
I'd like to see Boling try the 800 meters.
People gotta stop saying the 400 isn’t stacked
Casual fans say the wrong thing consistently and it’s mind numbing
The route to worlds and Olympics ain’t any easier in the 400 then it is in the 200
Matthew is a second tier runner trying to breakthrough and that’s ok
What’s not ok is people that don’t know track thinking the 400 was a easier path enough for him to stroll in he should do what he wants
He's still a young man …
Another overated white man.
He's good, but not able to be great. Look at the competition. In the USA, who is he going to beat in the 100 or the 200? Even in the 4, he can beat the top guys to 300, but . . . Hey, I've had the same experience in the 400H, I was ahead of the best (masters in my age group) in the country over the 8th hurdle, but my legs turned to jello and got smoked worse than him. Reality is a bitch. It is a tantalizing goal so you keep trying. Either Bolling figures out how to get that strength, or he learns how to add a foot to his LJ or take a quarter of a second off his 100. That is what is necessary to make an American team.
You can get on the USA world teams by being in the top 6 in the 400. Yeah, you'd love to be number 1 in your event, but even just getting and staying the relay pool is enough to be a pro competitor.
