  1. Qualifying for the champions league is like silverware for clubs now, particularly financially.

Villa would probably take champions league qualification again over europa leage qualification and winning the league cup, for example.

There's no money in domestic cups unfortunately.

  2. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time at Arsenal. The club botched Wenger’s succession with weak appointments at senior level. Sven Mislintat and Raul Sanllehi were not fit for purpose, they did not have the clubs best interests at heart and used the club to make shoddy deals with agents they had previously dealt with. Whoever came in after Wenger never stood a chance.

  3. Listening to Simon Jordan (prick) talk about Villa and then compare to the way he speaks about Newcastle is a joke. Just admit you hate the North East lad. πŸ˜‚πŸ€¦

  4. Interesting how Simon thinks Aston Villa are a big club but is always dismissive of Newcastle. Why? because Villa won European Cup 40+ years ago? meh. What else makes them bigger? I've just done a Google Trends search comparison (measures worldwide search interest) for past 5 years and since 2004 in UK and Worldwide – Newcastle generates more interest Villa every search – FACT. Villa are ranked 7th and Newcastle ranked 9th in terms honours won in England so not much in it. But when you dig deeper… such as looking at the history of the Deloitte Football Money league (Villa appeared 12x in 27 yrs with highest position of 17th, Newcastle 23x in 27 yrs with highest position of 5th), average attendance, all time PL standings, who has been in Europe more since advent of PL etc. It's clear Newcastle are the bigger club… just. Not by much but they simply are. And no Newcastle are not a one club city… large parts of Durham and Northumberland also support Newcastle.

  5. Why is it that whenever people bring up his time at Arsenal, he’s absolved of all responsibility? Arsenal fans know that he throw away a comfortable top 4 finish towards the end of the season to rest and rotate for the Europa final , just to get schooled in that. The next season he then proceeded to play our DM as our attacking midfielder and sell guys like iwobi and Ramsey without replacing them. And then he acted shocked as to why he it didn’t work outπŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚
