Gareth Southgate’s decision to remain as manager of England has been confirmed by the FA and he will now lead the country until at least the end of Euro 2024.

  1. 'There are no flaws in our squad'.
Yes there are at centre back and left back. And that makes a massive difference in the way we set up. If you can't truly trust your centre backs then naturally your midfield drift deeper

There is no way any of our current defenders would get in the Sven squad against the likes of Campbell, Ferdinand, Terry, Ashley Cole, even Jamie Carragher.

Very easy to forget that in World Cup 18, we were really not fancied to do anything in that tournament. We got to a semi final with the likes of Ashley Young playing left back, Dele Ali, Eric Dyer, Jesse Lingard and Ruban Loftus-Cheek starting games.

The Euros final? Win the penalty shoot out and this isn't even a discussion

Ditto the Quarter finals if Kane puts the penalty away. It's fine margins. Why do players individual mistakes not get considered when talking about England's failings?

And 'if we don't win in Turin this will be a catastrophe?' Jesus Christ mate calm down. Most people would gladly take a draw

  2. He already had a contract until July 2024, so the decision was purely Southgate's. Unless of course the FA were happy to pay him off (which they weren't). The other thing about this is political. He's an establishment liberal hence all the kneeling and all that nonsense. The FA have become very woke over the last 5 years and they love Southgate cause he plays to the leftist gallery.

  3. if u were a little bit older you would understand how incredibly successful southgate has been and you would know the real pain of decades upon decades of genuine disappointment .. and i dont mean losing in finals or semis, or quarters when we didnt get the rub of the green.. i mean turgid football and in fighting that saw our golden generation fail and fail again.. but you will eventually im sure.

  4. He's on the right side of the woke media elites etc so avoids normal football related scrutiny, it's a joke, I would literally prefer Sir Alf Ramsey being given the position again regardless of his sad passing.

  5. We will not win owt with Southgate In charge he is has dull has dish water he failed big Time at this World Cup Southgate is tactically inept he shud fall on his sword. and pass on the baton Nice one Rory for telling it as it is πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΎπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΎπŸ‡ͺβœŒοΈπŸ”°πŸ”°

  6. Bore off, same old negative England fans ruining it for the majority. These last 3 tournaments have been a vast improvement on the previous and has bought England fans back in love with international football. Even though we went out in the Quarters, I think the team had played the best I've seen in years, just unlucky with some decisions and decisive moments. Would be rash to get rid of Southgate after doing more than any manager in the last 50 years.

  7. What a complete mess, is this really what it has come to? Why should he even have the say as to whether or not he stays on? At here, England, the home of football! The fans should get to decide and the F.A should do what's best moving forward to take the national team to the next level. Southgate is a decent coach, his organization, work with younger players and media has to be recognized and he should have a part to play in the set up, however, he is NOT fit, qualified and competent enough to be manager of the England national team, that's just a fact, the stats back it up. They have had 3 relatively easy tournament runs in the earlier rounds, favourable draws, even a tournament mostly played at home and still nothing in a space of 4 years, something previous managers would have dreamed about and now with this exciting england team. Every time they face a game with any sort of difficulty or a top team, they almost always lose, he should have been sacked after the nations league mess. Let's look at the record shall we?

    1. The last world cup, easy games, on the easier side of the draw, got to the semi against a beatable croatia and in the second half southgate just stood there arms folded watching on like as if he just went to watch with the fans, he never changed the system and got into the midfield of croatia when needed, just basics in football management. They should have gotten to the final minimum.

    2. The last Euros, predominantly played in wembley, easy games or average teams (germany didn't turn up that game, but a decent win) then final a disgusting performance at Wembley, at the home of football, to be so defensive and passive, just a joke.

    3. The nations league…enough said lol.

    4. the world cup we just all saw, some easier games or just against average teams, who missed players, they went through the motions and some well coached games but when it counted finally against a weakened French team, the same pattern, defensive, passionless apathetical performances and more crucially when it mattered, a sheer lack of determination, team work and encouragement to go for it, attack and drive forward (especially in the France game but also has been a common theme in the nations league) something that teams like Argentina, Morocco and other nations have had plenty of, passion and energy.

I never believed England would win the world cup with him in charge. The fans have a right to demand more and expect changes to be made. Why support this cr*p? There's so much nepotism, favouritism in sport and media right now, politically correct idiots in the woke joke times, who are getting away with it. The F.A and those around, it is all about business, save on a new manager contract and keep the gravy train moving.

  8. And what's even sadder those 4 wins against "good" teams were against a shit Germany side the fell off a group stage of 2014 and 2018 WC, against a lacklucking mess of a Spanish side and against Croatia at the time when they were basically forming a new team since a lot of players left the team. So even those few wins against good teams aren't as impressive
