Yes he can, but he wont because he doesnt care about that. When Messi cared about scoring goals he scored 91 goals in one year. Ronaldo will make sure to end his career after Messi because he is possessed with scoring golas and all he has left is to score more of them than Messi.
I predict Messi will end his International career on 128 goals whereas Cr7 would finish at around 146 international goals and messi would 2-3 goals in the next world cup whereas Ronaldo would score 2

I honestly think there is a psychological factor as to why people hate on CR7 and like Messi. CR7 is a man without flaws. Apart from football, he is tall, fit, good looking, rich, etc. Many people, especially men, can't relate. With Messi, apart from football, he doesn't have much else. He is short and average looking. Therefore, he makes people feel more comfortable with themselves.

Messi's the more efficient goalscorer; given he has the better goal to game ratio. Meanwhile, CR has had the massive advantage of 168 extra games, while taking 59 more penalties.
