Giovanni Reyna made his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 18. At 17 years and two months old, he’s the third-youngest player in the club’s history. But the US boy is a man in a hurry. His second record came in his second match: his wonder goal against Bremen made him the youngest scorer in DFB Cup history. It’s all barely a surprise as the 17-year-old shooting star is a footballer through and through. His father Claudio played for Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg. How many goals do you think will Reyna score this season? Let us know in the comments.

  1. Beautiful goal! And unfortunately, that must have been a really emotional one. His first goal playing in the country where his older brother Jack (who died in 2012 of brain cancer) was born. Gio has repeatedly dedicated his career to his brother, and even the number 32 was a tribute to him. Jack was also reportedly in love with that 2011-2012 Dortmund team, and if this wasn't emotional enough, Dortmund last won the title just months before Jack passed away. :'(

Rest in Peace, Jack Reyna! And Gio, keep playing like you've played your whole career! They say about the greatest players that having them on your team is like playing a man up- you seem to take that to heart, playing like you're trying to make the impact of two players (you and your brother) at once! 🙂 🙂 :'( :'(

God Bless you and your family, Gio!
