Rob, do you factor in that the Vikings bye week might derail their momentum? I look out for these bye week situations like a hawk every year and it has been extremely profitable to fade the Vikes in a spot like this (even better if it’s a home team).
For just a few examples from last year:
1) Bucs vs Lions week 6
2) jags vs niners in week 10
It doesn’t happen often, so obviously can’t base a bet on that alone. Just curious for your thoughts!
I still don't think the betting market has caught up to just how great Dan Campbell has been as the Lions head coach as Detroit has had a put up a top 3 ATS record in EACH one of his four seasons in Detroit including once again this year. His ATS record is the best we've ever seen from an NFL HC with 50+ games minimum at above 70% overall and he's now 27-8 his last 35 for an unheard of 78% since Detroit started to get really good in two years ago. This isn't like with Tomlin either where you have to filter out things for certain spots instead it's EVERY single game (if you want to filter they are also 14-3 last 17 on road and 7-1 L8 as road dog). Something that he's doing is getting his teams to almost always exceed expectations. I think a lot of it has to do with his extreme aggressiveness with decision making which overall puts him way ahead of the curve for an NFL HC and plus his teams seem to play extremely hard. Just look at fact the teams that he's faced this year have all come back and the following week all were favored in their next game and all four were beat outright badly after having played against this physical Lions team. All that said I actually hate this spot this week for Lions 🙂 but I surely won't be betting against them either. Not stepping in front of DC and the Lions and if Jones is out will play some on Detroit small.
