Loppy needs to take paqueta to one side, put him arm around him and tell him he needs to give him a break for a couple of weeks to get his head together. Soler can take his place. Paqueta is a bit of a liability atm and is not playing at all well so him being on the pitch is detrimental to the team as a whole
In answer to the £30m question…..which nobody is going to offer….of course we would. As it stands if he were banned for life, which is a possibility, we would have a claim for about £20m in damages. So why not take £30m?

There have been many games where Antonio jogged the entire game. Away at Fulham in March of 2023 (I was there) he didn't even track back once.
We didn't play to Scamacca' strengths, we played Scamacca all alone up top.
I remember once Moyes played Scamacca for 70 odd minutes all alone up top, and we scored nothing. Then Antonio was bought on for Scamacca, and Moyes changed to a 4 3 3 system, putting extra players up and around the striker.
Scamacca saw that and got visibly annoyed.
Why didn't Moyes play 4 3 3 all along???

Try to support him?? Has a club ever supported a player in his situation more than West Ham has supported him? If you look at Lucas as a player in as unbiased and disconnected a fashion as you can, and if you remove this whole betting scandal from the equation, and if you look at his time at his other clubs you realize that he's had a very inconsistent career. He was good at Flamengo, but that's not a surprise. He mostly failed at Milan. At Lyon he was either very good or poor and it was near even amount of poor to good. But his good games were great. And with us? Honestly, I think he's worth his paycheck (relative to what he is supposed to be for us) maybe 3 or 4 games out of every ten. He's still a good player when he's off, but he can be anonymous to detrimental when he's off.
And, Frankie you're spot on about Lopetegui and the youth players. He doesn't even know his senior players yet, (including 10 transfers in) let alone the kids. Give him a year and then have a serious look at them.
Got to agree it's time to to take him out of the firing line Soler looks like he can step up imo . Orford looks like a Star in the making , same with Earthy in the positions that Paq man plays.

I wonder if there's a stigma to signing for West Ham as a striker. A promising player looks at our record over the last decade and thinks to himself, 'what in the world do they do to their strikers there?'

Spot on Frankie. Sometimes all it takes is one eg Payet made Bilic look like a great manager. A player could be the player of a tournament and gets a big move then we never here of him again.
I don't think it would be surprising if Lewis Orford saw a pathway into first team football at West Ham. Not this season, perhaps, but looking forward the ages of many of our centre midfielders suggest that he might not have that long to wait.

One point I’d make about youth development is that I’m always concerned that the academy is a bit of an old boys club. Brown, Keen, Robson, Potts. See the common thread? LaminecYamal scored a goal at full international level for Spain when he was still 16. If you’re good enough you’re old enough has always been the rule. Our youth coaches are very poor at getting the right loan moves for kids imo. No point in sending kids out to sit on a bench elsewhere when they could just as easily sit on one at our place. And at the right time, such as when Guilherme was introduced against Ipswich, throw them on and see how they cope with a higher level. Maybe our obsession with employing old boys could be a future topic for you and your mate.

Good chat, guys. Re Paqueta. If I put aside his current legal issues for a second, and just focus on his football, then he wouldn't be starting for me rignt now. That would allow me to play Kudus centrally, with Bowen on the right and Summerville on the left. Now throw in the legal ramifications, 30 mill from a non English club, and, despite his wonder pass in the Conf Final, I would drive him there, shake his hand and move on. Nothing personal, but West Ham are not a charity.
Why would anyone look at Paqueta let alone Real Madrid with this hanging over him? Even if he was in form! 😂

Soler has shown he can do a job for us, so he should play.
I can't see any club wanting to pay for Paqueta , he has just put West Ham in a tough position, if guilty of course. I feel for him but it's on him for getting booked so much.
TBH, I'm fed up of hearing about him and loyalty is to West Ham over Paqueta.
If he ever went to Real Madrid, I would ask for a player swap.
