  1. It’s safe to say I don’t remember Dan Neil having a good game this season Ben, been consistently below par compared to Rigg /Bellingham / Browne. Still a great player in there just a slow start it seems.

  2. obviously every sunlun fan would be ecstatic about hendo coming back, Defoe coming back was the best week ever… and we all know how that went🤣🤣

but that initial excitement, a few shirt sales and a voice in the dressing room is really all you’re paying for, i really don’t think you can drop any of that midfield… Yes Dan Neil hasn’t hit his same previous form this season (the arm band defo weighing him down) but he needs that game time a lot more than hendo does.

Maybe next season but definitely not now.

  3. Browne has been great so far too. Hendos experience could be valuable and more options aren't a bad thing to have. He'd have to take a big pay cut but if something could be worked out, I'd take him.

  4. It's a nostalgic idea and his experience would be a bonus but ultimately if he wants a move to get regular playing time he won't get that at Sunderland. Plus the owners had a nose bleed bringing in 29 year old Alan Browne so a 34 year old Henderson is pretty unlikely. Its a regretful no from me.

  5. If his problem then I'm not sure going to Sunderland would be the best. Although I could see it being very nice for Sunderland to add an experienced head to the group when they have a good opportunity to go up

  6. Depends how well Samed settles in between now and January.
Dan Neil has been really poor all season and well below even his own standards, so currently that CDM spot is a weak link in our team. I don't think the deal would be anywhere near 75k, it would be closer to the 30k – 40k mark and for that his leadership would be invaluable, especially coming to the pressure end of the season.
However if Samed settles in and performs, I don't think there'd be much need for Henderson personally.

  7. Only way hendo will ever be back would be in a coaching role.wages would be impossible to even pay half. Not even sure if he would get game time with our midfield at the moment.but i probably stand with every Sunderland fan in saying we would welcome him back.

  8. If we're still in the top 6 at christmas, I think it would be a pretty good move for us. He goes straight in as the holding midfielder and can work with a couple of the younger lads on that side of the game. Bring him home

  9. Henderson is playing the best he has been for ajax, our manager really focusses on fitness so many starter haven’t played to many of games. Henderson has also got some minor injuries what explains the lack of games. I think farioli believes in hendo because he also made him captain before our former captain left. We also have a lack of midfielders so i dont think farioli would let him leave this January.

  10. If asking me i don't think signings Henderson would/ should be at the top of our list in January given i would argue midfield is our strongest area of the pitch but if Henderson is desperate to come back his wage aren't ridiculous and he's happy not playing every game l wouldn't say to no to it . If we are in top 2 or top 6 race he's experience will be key on this young squad and like u said he will have the respect of everyone in that dressing room and he will be listed to if being honest i don't see it happening given the options we all really have in midfield he's wages , and l know they proven there are happy tk add some experience with Simon Moore, Chris Mepham and Allan Browne i think the owners will be very uncomfortable with having a 34 year old outfield player on the books.

  11. Initially thought this sounded like a fantastic signing, like I'm a lot of people did. But after watching this, I've totally flipped my opinion; the depth in midfield and the risk of him disrupting what Sunderland are currently building, it's a bad idea.

  12. The person who stands the most to gain from this deal is Henderson himself, ending his career by helping Sunderland be promoted would help remove the reputational damage from his move from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia

  13. 55 years a Sunderland fan, theres no way we would pay his wages at this present time, personally I can see the benefit of having him around but I just can’t see him playing at all unless we got a heap of injuries, I can’t see this happening and wouldn’t be to bothered either way,
