Ivan Perišić (Croatian Ivan Perišić; February 2, 1989, Omis) is a Croatian footballer, midfielder of the Internazionale club and the Croatian national team. Participant of the 2012 and 2016 European Championships, as well as the 2014 World Championships. Silver medalist of the 2018 World Championship.
For the first time on the football field Perisic appeared when he was six years old, in the youth academy “Hajduk”, based in the hometown of the Croatian. Perisic spent 11 years in the academy of this club, after which he moved to the Sochaux academy, for the second team of which he played 36 matches, scoring eight goals in them. Perisic joined the Belgian club Club Brugge in 2009, where he achieved significant success: he became the top scorer of the Belgian Pro League in 2011 and was named the Football Player of the Year in Belgium. Due to the high level of his game, the Croat was noticed by the scouts of Borussia Dortmund, in which he ended up, having won the 2011/12 Bundesliga. In January 2013, the Croat moved to Wolfsburg. He spent two seasons at the club, becoming the winner of the German Cup. In 2015, Perisic joined Inter for 16 million euros.
“Internationale”
On August 30, 2015, Perisic signed a five-year contract with Italian Inter, which paid 16 million euros for the player. On September 10, the Croat was introduced as a Nerazzurri player together with Adem Ljajic, where the Croat officially presented his game number – “44”. Three days later, Perisic made his debut for the new club, playing 85 minutes against Milan. Perisic scored his first goal for Inter on 4 October with a pass from Mauro Icardi against Sampdoria and scored again against Palermo two weeks later. On December 15, Perisic made his debut in the Italian Cup, scoring a goal in a match against Cagliari, which ended with a score of 3: 0. On February 7, in the 46th minute of the match against Verona, Perisic entered the field and changed the fate of the match; the Croat gave an assist to Icardi and scored himself, thanks to which the score of the match became equal and Inter avoided defeat. Perisic finished his first season at the Milan club with 37 matches, of which 34 were in Serie A.
On February 5, 2017, in the 23rd round of the Italian championship against Juventus, Perisic received his first red card in his career. Horvath was suspended for two matches by the Italian Football Federation, but after Inter appealed against the suspension, it was reduced to one match. On February 19, in the match against Bologna, Perisic made his first appearance on the field after the expiration of the period of ineligibility. Perisic finished his second season at Inter with 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists; this was his highest result since the 2010/11 season (then the Croat played at Club Brugge).
Perisic started his third season at the Italian club at a height; in the very first Serie A match against Fiorentina, the Croat scored and assisted, and then gave two assists in the match against Roma, allowing Inter to win 3-1. This was Inter’s first victory at Stadio Olimpico in the last nine years. On September 8, Perisic signed a new contract with Nerazzurri until June 2022. On December 30, Perisic played in his 100th match for Inter in all tournaments. In the 2017/18 season, the Croat played 37 matches in which he scored 11 goals.
Rent to “Bavaria”
On August 13, 2019, he transferred from Inter to German Bayern Munich on a one-year lease for 5 million euros with an option of redemption for 20 million euros.
On September 9, 2020 it became known that following the results of a one-year lease, Bayern Munich did not buy the contract of the 31-year-old Croatian player; The Croatian midfielder returned from loan to Bayern and again became a player for Inter (previously there was information in the media that Inter and Bayern were unable to agree on the price for the transfer of rights to the player). Later, on September 26 of the same year, the head coach of Inter, Antonio Conte, commented on the return of Perisic and summed up his year in the German superclub.
