Matthias Lukas Ginter (German Matthias Lukas Ginter; January 19, 1994, March, Baden-Württemberg) – German footballer, player of the Borussia club from Mönchengladbach and the German national team. Plays in the positions of a central defender and a holding midfielder.

He was considered one of the most promising players of the new generation, many compared Matthias to Philip Lam, who could also play in the holding area, on the flanks and in the center of defense. Ginter is a graduate of the famous Freiburg Academy, in 2012 he made his debut at the base of the “mestizo”. In August 2014, Ginter moved to the location of Borussia Dortmund and soon made his debut in the team of Jurgen Klopp.

From early childhood, it was clear that Ginter is a football player with amazing talent. Since the age of 11, Matthias has belonged to Freiburg, a club renowned for its ability to produce young talent. On January 21, 2012, Ginter made his debut in the Freiburg main squad in the match against Augsburg, replacing Anton Putilo in the 70th minute and scoring the winning goal for his team in the 88th minute. This goal made him the youngest player in the history of the club from Breisgau to score a goal in the Bundesliga. The previous record was held by Dennis Aogo. On January 23, two days after his debut, Ginter signed a professional contract with Freiburg.

On July 17, 2014, Ginter moved to Borussia Dortmund, signing a contract until 2019. On 13 August 2014 he made his Dortmund debut in the German Super Cup against Bayern Munich, where Ginter played the entire match and Borussia won 2-0. In the second season at Borussia in the match against Ingolstadt (4-0) Matthias scored his first goal for the club and was named the best player of the match.

On July 4, 2017, Ginter moved to Borussia Monchengladbach. Mattias signed a contract with the club until 2021 with the option of extending for another year. The transfer amount was 17 million euros, with a possible increase to 20 million thanks to bonuses.
