Deeny follows the lazy trope that Arsenal didn’t win the league last season because it didn’t have a 30 goal a season striker. Arsenal failed to win not because of a lack of goals but because dropped points to clubs like West Ham, Fulham and Villa. Arsenal scored the 2nd highest number of goals and conceded the least goals
Too be fair the only people slating havertz was so called experts and fans arteta brought him in he was always going to give him time… and like Martin said they are now benefiting from that
Kai still can't finish. But give Kai credit. Moving across town to your known city rival takes guts. To have been doing what he's doing now is appreciated. But as a 9 that guy needs to polish his finishing
Martin is right, Havertz is immense for Arsenal and has fully earned his starting spot. Arsenal lost last season not because of Kai but because of the Crucial losses against Villa. If Kai continues to score every other game as he's doing right now and Arsenal still fall short it won't be because of Kai Havertz it will be because the Team didn't have enough to fight on all front or Arteta failed to rotate effectively as he's been guilty of doing in the past. Martin is right to call out lazy punditry that try to make everything about one player surely football is more than that.
It is known that Arteta looked at a striker in the summer…for instance Toney but decided not to go for it. Deeney is right Keown cannot take criticism or has the intellect to look at things subjectively

The reality is that Kai Havertz isn’t doing anything more than what he did at Chelsea at his best. He did a lot of good work on and off the ball but was absolutely abysmal at finishing chances. His finishing has marginally improved and his good performances are more consistent but he’s still nowhere near the player CFC and the rest of the PL expected him to be when we bought him. Kai was supposed to be doing what Palmer is currently doing. Does he seem happier and more assured/consistent in his performances? Yes, but if he doesn’t kick on/evolve and Arsenal continue relying on him as the 9, they’ll continue to flatter to deceive

The reason for not winning the Premiership last season was we had a striker but he played half of the season in midfield.

Martin isn't asking them the right question. Why are people now saying Arsenal are the favorite with Rodri out for the season while Haaland is still available? Does that not mean Rodri was the reason City won it last year?
Kai is not a prolific goal scorer and Arsenal will depend on wingers scoring goals to keep fro hitting goal droughts. Kai does things that MA likes and it’s why he plays him all the time. Maybe he continues to provide timely contributions but if he doesn’t and Arsenal drops points because Martinelli, Odegaard and Saka fail to score for extended stretches, all hell will break loose.

Kai Havertz is the man to lead the Arsenal attack. As Keown pointed out, past leagues have been won without a prolific striker. The problem last year was Martinelli and Jesus didn't score enough in the first half of the season. That changed when Trossard and Havertz took their place in the forward line.
Kai was moved to CF late last season and I'm almost conviced he'd have scored more if he had been there from the start. Mikel was still trying to determine his best position at that stage.
For Arsenal, hoals are more distrubuted through the team, not just falling on the shoulders of the CF.
From the moment he stepped up in late Feb as the CF, his G/A output has been strong (14 Goals and 7 Assists). However his overall contribution to the team is undervalued when you watch the actual games. I've seen him countless times in his own box defending, in the middle of the pitch breaking up and starting attacks – the guy is everywhere, willing to cover every blade of grass and to take the bruises.
He has caused havok for the opposition in so many situations, won penalties and key fouls (For example when Konate took him down and was Sent off at the Emirates earlier this year, with Arsenal winning 3-1).
Haaland is expected to score in every game and is exceptional at what he does because he is supplied by creative dominant wingers. Arsenal wingers are more balanced with a tendency to find more shooting positions (For example, Saka will always outscore Doku and Grealish).

Because we didn't win Mancity at their ground last year, we lost the trophy, because we didn't have a striker we lost the trophy. This lazy analysis amazes me. What if we hadn't lost to West ham, Fulham around December. What if we hadn't lost to villa at Emirates when we badly needed to win… These gentlemen(analysts) need to up their game.
Havertz is far from world class. Arsenal need a clinical striker.
If Havertz does what he normally does, he will go through his usual poor patch between December and March when he normally disappears in matches.

Deeny’s entire argument is entirely predicated on the idea that Arsenal fans were calling to sign a striker. If Deeny were clued into the WHY in that position he would have no position for his argument. Arsenal wanted to sign another striker to share minutes with Kai. It’s for quality back up, not a replacement. Arteta has even said in the past that you must empower someone in their ability when they are playing well. Saying that Kai is a 9 is lazy, he is doing work at the 9 position.
I hope Timber is fit for the Liverpool game Salah will be a massive test for him .

Havertz is only second to Haaland since Feb for Goals & Assists in the PL (24 vs 19). The Arsenal team were scoring for fun in almost all those games. Foden's upturn in form in the run-in is ultimately what made the difference.
Find me a forward who can do what Havertz does for this Arsenal team. Convinced Arsenal will look to sign someone to compete up front once they free up the space and wages of Jesus.
