The game was stopped for 15 minutes and the players were taken off the pitch because of missiles thrown at Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Speaking about the individuals who threw objects at Courtois, Simeone said: ‘We don’t need people like that in our stands.’ But the Atlético Madrid manager also argued that ‘Courtois winds up the crowd.’ He said: ‘It’s not right for fans to respond that way, but it’s also not right when we provoke.’
