  1. For starters we need to show much more respect to our near neighbours in south-east Asia.
Indonesia and Vietnam are two examples of nations that have made massive strides in recent years. Mostly with domestic-based players.
Some argue that we have a 'weak' men's squad in comparison to earlier teams. The talent is clearly there.
Others would suggest that a squad of A-League-based players could get the job of qualifying done. They've hardly had a look in.
One thing is certain: man management and motivational skills can only get you so far in a very competitive environment. Arnold fell short.
The Socceroos need a tactician in charge. A stern one at that.

  2. Graham Arnold is no doubt a good coach. 3 trophies for Central Coast? Unfortunately he's become too embedded with that very conservative, very organised, ultra structured strategem that seems to be something we got from the Dutch (we had a stint with many Dutch Division 1 football strategies since even before Pim Verbeek took us to 2014.

If anyone can recall this was the kind of guy who really liked nil all results as it proved we were sorted out at the back near perfectly.

We need to teach young coaches / players to maybe be more dynamic. Works well to learn fancy Dutch football for our earlier development… but if we want to be anything more than a half serious soccer / football country
