South Korea’s Hwang Kyung seon defended her 67 kilogram Olympic taekwondo title Friday by beating Nur Tatar of Turkey in an action-packed final.
Both fighters scored head shots within the first 12 seconds, with their kicks landing almost simultaneously.Hwang ultimately won by a score of 12 to 5. She is the first woman to win three Olympic taekwondo medals.Hwang, 26, also won a bronze at the Athens Games and is a former double world champion.Hwang used her speed and flexibility to outkick her opponents on Friday.It was South Korea’s second Olympic taekwondo medal of the games after Lee Dae-hoon won silver in the men’s lightweight division on Wednesday.
