I don't think the difference in regard of how Leao and Pulisic have played comes down to expectations. Missing from that statistic on goal contributions is the fact that Pulisic puts in a strong defensive effort, Pulisic gets involved in the build-up play, and Pulisic could have had more goals last season if his teammates had made better decisions and gave him in the ball at certain times when he was open. Leao rarely was denied the ball last season when he was open. The frustration with Leao is that he doesn't do those things. If he can't find the situation he wants he'll just disappear. There's no doubt Leao won plenty of games for Milan last season.
Actually I think Pulisic was somewhat handcuffed last season because Pioli in some sense used him on the right in a way designed to get Leao more open on the left. Pulisic has had more free rein this year and seems more integrated in the offense somehow. His teammates are getting the ball to him. So much last season Pulisic would get the ball on the right sideline and then cycle it back because nothing else was open.
leao has been a finished product for years now even in the scudetto year he was a finished product and doing the same BS that he does now the difference is simply the fact that the leauge was pretty atrocious back then so he got away with it for years, i was screaming to sell him when that deal for barcelona for around 80m (if im not mistaken) got here imagine we had replaced him with someone like nico williams
Gabbia+Pavlovic is the best DC pairing. Tomori is not that great. He makes too many mistakes.

They should’ve sold Leao for 100 million when Chelsea came by what they still got time to let them go
Leo is good but i feel people want him to score in big games , it wilk take time against big team we are second favorites mostly.
Criticism towards Leao is way overboard. 4 shots, 18/20 passes completed, roughly the same xG as Pulisic (who had about the same touches than Leao). I understand that Rafa is not working as hard for the team as Pulisic, but generally speaking Leao creates way more danger than Pulisic.
Why can't we be happy to have both of them and appreciate that they bring different qualities to the team?
I think another issue is having Theo and Rafa on the same side. Theo always looks to get forward and attack and that leads to some danger on the counter when we all know Rafa isn't tracking back and playing tough defense while there is a horrible issue with RB but Pulisic will at least work back and play some defense
If fofana, Emerson and pavlovic improve I think we're on a good path. Bear in mind, these guys are all new from other countries, they may need some time to settle
About Leao, we hv seen enough that he is not working his ass going back when lost the ball. Its different case if Pulisic lost it. When the team need to defend, you hv to work for it, press the ball, and dont jog slowly and hoping your teammate won the ball back. Leao very talented but the mentality not there. Maybe its because to much pressure on him? Idk. He looks terrible on the past two games

Rafa is an amazing talent, he literally at any moment can change a game. The frustration lies in the fact that he often lacks consistent effort and good decision making
