Liverpool’s Champions League Hero Finds Himself In The Reserves After Two Years Of Difficulties.

Liverpool had only ever won a Champions League final by two goals once before, but that changed in May 2019 when Divock Origi’s strike sealed a 2-0 win against Tottenham at the Metropolitano.
Despite starting only 68 of his 175 appearances for Liverpool, Origi ranks alongside club legends like Steven Gerrard and Sir Kenny Dalglish for his knack for scoring crucial goals.
Despite his struggles, Milan icon and director Paolo Maldini praised Origi’s potential, saying, “Origi has all the qualities to be a great footballer.
He has strength, technique, speed, and the ability to shoot with both feet. Watching him in training, we know what he’s capable of.”
After Maldini’s departure from the club that summer, Origi was loaned back to the Premier League in an attempt to regain his form and confidence with Nottingham Forest last season. His last league start was in March, and despite 20 appearances, he didn’t score any goals in the league, with his only goal coming in one of two FA Cup matches. For the final four games of the season, Nuno Espirito Santo left him on the bench.
Things worsened for Origi upon his return to Milan this summer. In July, Milan’s senior advisor and former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced that Origi would be excluded from the first team.
Ibrahimovic bluntly stated: “Divock Origi and [Senegalese defender] Fodé Ballo-Toure are not part of our plans. They will join the youth team [in Serie C] as they are no longer part of our project.”
the striker, whose contract runs until 2026, is training alone, with little interest from other clubs. Milan is reportedly considering terminating his contract to facilitate a free transfer. This marks a particularly bleak chapter in the career of one of Liverpool’s cult heroes.
